Process trending with piecewise linear smoothing

TLDR
A new method is proposed, Piecewise Linear Online Trending (PLOT), which is statistically based and which performs significantly better, adapts to process variability and noisy data, recognizes and eliminates outliers, and it is robust even in the presence of outliers.

Refinery-wide control loop performance assessment

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discuss the application of control loop performance assessment (CLPA) in a refinery setting and describe procedures for selecting these parameters which make it feasible to implement the algorithm on a refinery-wide scale.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fault diagnosis using dynamic trend analysis: A review and recent developments

TL;DR: The effectiveness of the interval halving and trend matching is shown through simulation studies on the fault diagnosis of the Tennessee Eastman process and a novel interval-halving method for trend extraction and a fuzzy-matching-based method for similarity estimation and inferencing are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Novel Interval-Halving Framework For Automated Identification of Process Trends

TL;DR: A novel approach is proposed to automatically identify the qualitative shapes of sensor trends using a polynomial-fit based interval-halving technique and a unique assignment of qualitative shape is made to each of the identified segments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fault Diagnosis by Qualitative Trend Analysis of the Principal Components

TL;DR: In this article, principal component analysis (PCA) is applied on the principal components rather than on the sensor data for fault detection and diagnosis in large-scale chemical plants, and the proposed approach is tested on the Tennessee Eastman (TE) process.
Journal ArticleDOI

An Intelligent System for Reaction Kinetic Modeling and Catalyst Design

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe Reaction Modeling Suitea rational, automated, and intelligent environment, based on systems, artificial intelligence, and optimization techniques that aid the development of kinetic models.

The Use of Historical Data Storage and Retrieval Systems at Nuclear Power Plants

TL;DR: The Historical Data Storage and Retrieval system will record, store, recall, and display historical information as it is needed by plant personnel as well as respond to the user's needs under a variety of situations.
