Abstract
Para ponderar adecuadamente esta obra de Stanley Cavell, cuya primera edición data de 1981 (Cavell, 1981), y de la que existe versión española (Cavell, 1999), creemos que conviene afirmar desde el principio que nos encontramos ante un libro de filosofía. Una filosofía que integra en su reflexión de manera principal las llamadas “comedias de rematrimonio de Hollywood”. A tal fin, Cavell realiza una justificación de este agrupamiento (al que califica de “género”), que comprende lo que él califica como siete obras de arte del Hollywood clásico, a cada una de las cuales dedica un capítulo:
