Journal ArticleDOI

Guayule agronomics: establishment, irrigated production, and weed control

TL;DR: In this paper, the crop water stress index has been developed for guayule and is a valuable tool for growers to monitor and manage water stress and irrigation scheduling, and it can be used to determine a goal for economical biomass and rubber yield, and adjust inputs accordingly.
Journal ArticleDOI

Salt effects on germination and seedling emergence of several vegetable crops and guayule

TL;DR: Poor seedling emergence of guayule, carrots and, to some extent, chile pepper appeared to be caused by hypocotyl mortality associated with the salts accumulated at the soil surface, but not by reduced seed germination.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of light, gibberellic acid and abscisic acid on germination of guayule (Parthenium argentatum Gray) seed

TL;DR: Effect of light quality indicates evidence of phytochrome-mediated germination and dormancy in guayule and appears to act on the same pathway as light and GA 3.
Journal ArticleDOI

Water quantity and quality requirements of guayule: Current assessment

TL;DR: The amount of water required to produce a ton of dry shrub in 2 years ranges from 1200 to 1600 m3 for a wide range of irrigation regimes and irrigation water salinity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Germination and growth inhibitors in guayule (parthenium argentatum gray) chaff and their possible influence in seed dormancy

TL;DR: Experiments showed that chaff influenced germination and seedling emergence of guayule, lettuce, and tomato seeds, and highperformance liquid chromatography enabled the identification of at least seven phenolic acids from guayules chaff extract, which seem to play an important role in the germination.
