Mixed-matrix membranes containing MOF-5 for gas separations

TL;DR: In this article, metal-organic framework 5 (MOF-5) nanocrystals with a high surface area (3000m 2 /g) and high thermal stability (up to 400°C) were synthesized and added to Matrimid ® to form mixed-matrix membranes for gas separations.

A novel time lag method for the analysis of mixed gas diffusion in polymeric membranes by on-line mass spectrometry: method development and validation

TL;DR: In this paper, a novel method to determine the individual diffusion coefficients of gases in a mixture during their permeation through polymeric membranes is described, using Rubbery Pebax ® and glassy Hyflon ® AD60X membrane samples as standards, and validated using the Troger's base containing Polymer of Intrinsic Microporosity, PIM-EA-TB.

Metal-organic polyhedra 18 mixed-matrix membranes for gas separation

TL;DR: In this article, metal-organic polyhedra 18 (MOP-18) linker was functionalized with long alkyl chains to help the crystals dissolve in common organic solvents.

Decomposition of Phenolic Impregnated Carbon Ablator (PICA) as a Function of Temperature and Heating Rate.

TL;DR: The heating rate strongly affects the pathways taken during the pyrolysis of the phenolic resin in PICA, and the new data may be used to test nonequilibrium models that are designed to simulate the response of TPS materials during atmospheric entry of spacecraft.
