Can a history of clothes and fashion be treated in the context of art history? If the origin of art history as an academic discipline, decorative or fine arts occupied a central place, the history of clothing and fashion do not seems to have recieved particularly special attention. With its social, economic and political implications, and also wrapped in custom and in everyday life, clothes and fashion are part of many interwoven histories. This text seeks to present provisionally a way and some problems to study the clothes within the history of art.
