Abstract
The ROBOT project is to develop an English interface to data base management systems (DBMS). Our approach calls for mapping English language questions into a language of data base semantics that is independent of the content of the data base. In this way we work in a "movable miniworld" since the semantic primitives are fixed, but the area of discourse varies with the content of the data base. Thus, by making only dictionary changes we have interfaced a student grade file and employee file and a data dictionary.

Developing a natural language interface to complex data

TL;DR: In this article, an intelligent interface that provides natural language access to a large body of data distributed over a computer network is described, showing how a user is buffered from the actual database management systems (DBMSs) by three layers of insulating components.

Developing a natural language interface to complex data

TL;DR: The overall system architecture is presented, showing how a user is buffered from the actual database management systems (DBMSs) by three layers of insulating components.

An intelligent interface for online interaction

TL;DR: The author discusses the ways of improving the performance of online retrieval systems by introducing an automated interface between the enquirer and the system and discusses studies in artificial intelligence relevant to the problems of implementing an intelligent interface.

A framework for the natural-language-perception-based creative control of unmanned ground vehicles

TL;DR: The proposed creative controller like the adaptive critic controller has information stored in a dynamic database, plus a dynamic task control center that functions as a command center to decompose tasks into sub-tasks with different dynamic models and multi-criteria functions.

Comprehensible answers to précis queries

TL;DR: In this article, a semi-automatic method that translates the relational output of a precis query into a synthesis of results is presented. But this method requires the user to specify a set of reusable templates.
