Molecular structure of the phosphate mineral brazilianite NaAl3(PO4)2(OH)4 – A semi precious jewel

TL;DR: In this paper, Raman bands at 973 and 988 cm −1 are assigned to the stretching vibrations of the HOPO 3 3 3 - and PO 4 3 - bending region, which implies that both phosphate and hydrogen phosphate units are involved in the structure of brazilianite.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phosphate Minerals of the: Palermo No.1 Pegmatite

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss the Phosphate Minerals of the: Palermo No.1 Pegmatite and their relationship with the pegmatite, and present a detailed discussion of their relationship. Rocks & Minerals: Vol. 56, No. 5, pp 197-214.
Journal ArticleDOI

Neutron diffraction in gemology: Single-crystal diffraction study of brazilianite, NaAl3(PO4)2(OH)4

TL;DR: In this paper, the chemical composition and the crystal structure of a gem-quality brazilianite from the Telirio pegmatite, near Linopolis, Minas Gerais, Brazil, were investigated by means of electron microprobe analysis in wavelength-dispersive mode, single-crystal X-ray and neutron diffraction.
Journal Article

Molecular structure of the phosphate mineral brazilianite NaAl3(PO4)2(OH)4 : a semi precious jewel

TL;DR: In this paper, Vibrational spectroscopy was used to characterize the structure of brazilianite, which is composed of chains of edge-sharing Al-O octahedra linked by P-O tetrahedra.
DissertationDOI

Memória da mineralogia brasileira

TL;DR: In the first year of the CNMMN IMA, more than 80 new mineral names were generated by the International Mineralogical Association (IMA) and only 21 of them have a reputable standing in mineralogy today as discussed by the authors.
