Server architecture and methods for persistently storing and serving event data

TLDR
In this article, the authors describe a web site system that persistently stores event data reflective of events that occur during browsing sessions of web site users, and makes such data available to other applications and services in real time.
Abstract
A web site system (30) includes an event history server system (32) that persistently stores event data reflective of events that occur during browsing sessions of web site users, and makes such data available to other applications and services (38) in real time. The server system (32) may, for example, be used to record information about every mouse click of every recognized user, and may also be used to record other types of events such as impressions and mouse-over events. The event data of a particular user may be retrieved from the server system (32) based on event type, event time of occurrence, and various other criteria. In one embodiment, the server system (32) includes a cache layer (40) that caches event data by session ID, and includes a persistent storage layer (44) that persistently stores the event data by user ID. Also disclosed are various application features that may be implemented using the stored event data.

Time series search engine

TL;DR: In this article, a method for searching time series data over a network is proposed, which involves employing a computing device to gather at least one stream of time-series data from an information processing environment and arrange the data for searching.
Patent

Mining of user event data to identify users with common interests

TL;DR: In this paper, a computer-implemented matching service matches users to other users, and/or to user communities, based at least in part on a computer analysis of event data reflective of user behaviors.

System and method of accessing a document efficiently through multi-tier web caching

TL;DR: In this article, a client assistant examines its cache for the requested document, and if the client assistant cannot provide the copy, the server seeks it from a document repository rather than the document's web host.
Patent

Remote browsing session management

TL;DR: In this article, a client computing device requests a remote persistent browsing context instance at a network computing provider, which is maintained at the network computing providers subsequent to the user ending his interaction with the browser application at the client device.

Responding to a query in a data processing system

TL;DR: In this paper, a membership structure is accessed to determine whether partially processed data from a particular one of the processing stages is available or not in response to a query, and the membership structure determines whether the data from the processing stage is available.

System and method for improving the efficiency, comfort, and/or reliability in operating systems, such as for example windows

Yaron Mayer
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a new Windows application that includes considerable improvements over the prior art, such as a reset function, a powerful undo feature, improved undo features in word processing, improved file comparison features, being able for example to track changes retroactively, improved backup features, and many additional improvements.
Patent

Content personalization based on actions performed during a current browsing session

TL;DR: In this paper, various methods are disclosed for monitoring user browsing activities, and for using such information to provide session-specific item recommendations to users, and the recommended items may be displayed together with an option to individually deselect the recently viewed items on which the recommendations are based.

Relationship discovery engine

TL;DR: In this article, a system, method, and computer program product discover relationships among items and recommend items based on the discovered relationships, without requiring users to complete questionnaires, using an improved binomial log likelihood ratio analysis technique.

Interface and system for providing persistent contextual relevance for commerce activities in a networked environment

TL;DR: In this paper, a search and recommendation system employs the preferences and profiles of individual users and groups within a community of users, as well as information derived from categorically organized content pointers, to augment electronic commerce related searches, re-rank search results, and provide recommendations for commerce related objects based on an initial subject-matter query and an interaction history of a user.
