TLDR
In this article, the starch granule development in hard red winter wheat was followed by light and electron microscopy and quantitative image analysis, and it was shown that starch granules initiated during the first 4 DAF increased in size to mean diameter of 5.6 μm by 7 DAF.Abstract:
Starch granule development in hard red winter wheat was followed by light and electron microscopy and quantitative image analysis. Proplastids in the cytoplasm of the coenocytic endosperm two days after flowering (DAF) differentiated into amyloplasts by 4 DAF. Quantitative image analysis showed that the starch granules initiated during the first 4 DAF increased in size to mean diameter of 5.6 μm by 7 DAF (...)read more

Form and functionality of starch
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the current understanding of starch structure that is relevant to its functionality in foods and nutrition, and describe how amylose influences packing of amylopectin into crystallites and the organization of the crystalline lamellae within granules, which is important for properties related to water uptake.

Molecular and biochemical impacts of environmental factors on wheat grain development and protein synthesis
TL;DR: Integration of genomic and proteomic studies with developmental studies under controlled environmental conditions should make it possible to resolve complex patterns of gene expression during grain development, pinpoint key regulatory processes that are influenced by the environment, and reveal the molecular basis for environmental impacts on flour composition and quality.

TL;DR: The high temperature regimens reduced the relativ el evels of transcripts for starch synthase more than the other starch biosynthetic enzymes.

Characterization and modeling of the A- and B-granule starches of wheat, triticale, and barley
Zihua Ao,Jay-lin Jane +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, A-and B-granules of wheat, triticale, and barley starches were separated and their structures and properties were analyzed, and the relationship between the structures of amylopectin and the shapes of starch granules were discussed.

Granule Size Distribution and Chemical Composition of Starches from 12 Soft Wheat Cultivars
TL;DR: In this paper, the granule size distribution and chemical composition of soft wheat starches were characterized and compared and relationships among those properties were identified using a laser light-scattering technique.
