Effect of hormones on the Salientian spermatogenesis in vivo and in vitro

TL;DR: In some experiments with hypophysectomized Rana pipiens treated with exogenous testosterone and combined dose of gonadotropins, it was clear that this steroid also had a direct inhibitory effect on the testicular germinal epithelium, and, in some circumstances, even stimulation of spermatogenesis occurred.

TL;DR: It was shown that gonadotropin independence during the process of spermatogenesis in the toad is acquired late in the secondary sperMatogonial phase, and this may be causally related to pretreatment with high doses of hCG.
