Methyl Steroids. Studies on the Synthesis of 4-Methyl- and 4,4-Dimethyl-25-hydroxycholestan-3-one Derivatives

TL;DR: In this article, the synthetic routes to 25-hydroxy derivatives of 4-methylcholest-4-ene and 4,4-dimethylcholate from methyl lithocholate and methyl 3β-acetoxy-24-homochol-5-en-25-oate have been investigated.

UNIVERSIDADE DE SÃO PAULO INSTITUTO DE QUÍMICA Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciências Biológicas (Bioquímica)

TL;DR: Interestingly, urate increased superoxide production and oxygen consumption by neutrophil-like cells (differentiated HL-60 cells).
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydroxylation of dehydroepiandrosterone and its acetate with potato tuber slices

TL;DR: Evidence is presented for the view that the potato tuber tissue contains an unstable enzyme capable of hydroxylation of dehydroepiandrosterone and its acetate in low yield.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oxidized sterols inhibit the formation of podophyllin-induced metaphase figures in mouse vaginal epithelia

TL;DR: It is concluded that animals in the estrogenic phase of the estrus cycle are not a suitable model for assaying antimitotic activity, and 25-OH-cholesterol was the most effective inhibitor, followed by 7-ketocholesterol and methotrexate.
