TLDR
In this paper, a new type propeller derived from "winglets" was investigated, which is also fitted small blades at the blade tips likely to be winglets, so they named it "bladelets" and reduced induced drag from tip vorteces.Abstract:
A new type propeller derived from “winglets” was investigated. This propeller is also fitted small blades at the blade tips likely to “winglets”, so we named it “bladelets”. These are for the purpose of reducing induced drag from tip vorteces. This paper, as the first report, mainly presents the results of the series tests which are concerned with the arrangement of these small blades. Propeller open test, flow visualization and flow velocity measurements were performed, and one of the best arrangement of “bladelets” were found out. The results looks 1 or 4% better compared the efficiency of “bladelet propeller” with that of the original one within the bound of real working condition.read more

Evaluation of endplate impact on tip loaded propeller performance using a RANSE solver
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of endplate geometry modifications in the radial distribution of circulation is illustrated and the contribution of pressure and friction components to the total endplate forces is also shown.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of tip tabs on the flow field of a three-bladed rotor/propeller was investigated experimentally at chord Reynolds numbers of R e c = 0.4 − 2.9 × 10 5.

Sea Trials of the Ducted Tip Propeller

TL;DR: The ducted tip propeller was originally thought to be useful only for boats with heavily loaded propellers, such as tug boats and trawlers as mentioned in this paper, but the current research has shown that the ducted tips may have much broader application.

Computational Study of the Flow Around a Ducted Tip Hydrofoil
TL;DR: In this paper, the CFDRC-ACE(U) flow solver and a k-e turbulence model were used to study the stability of flow over rounded and ducted tip hydrofoils.

A design approach and selected wind tunnel results at high subsonic speeds for wing-tip mounted winglets
TL;DR: In this paper, a discussion of the considerations involved in the design of the winglets; measured effects of these surfaces on the aerodynamic forces, moments, and loads for a representative first generation, narrow body jet transport wing; and a comparison of these effects with those for a wing tip extension which results in approximately the same increase in bending moment at the wing-fuselage juncture as did the addition of winglets.
