A pump rotor for displacing fluids includes a cover and a bottom part having blades. Both the bottom part and the cover are formed by injection molding of thermoplastic materials, preferably reinforced by fillers. The bottom part and the cover are joined together by welding. The walls of the bottom part and cover are sufficiently thin to replace similar metal parts and to provide maximum benefit of the skin effect resulting from the specific surface qualities of the molded material forming the bottom part and the cover. A mold for molding the bottom part and the cover is equipped with a cap which is angularly and vertically adjustable making it possible for a balancing weight to be fitted on the molded parts. The balancing weight is also angularly adjustable and has an adjustable mass.

An impeller for a rotary fluid machine of the centrifugal type is disclosed which is adapted to be constructed as a liquid pump or gas compressor. The impeller comprises a disc having a boss which is fitted on a drive shaft, and a plurality of blades which are uniformly spaced apart circumferentially and axially project from at least one side of the disc. Each blade has a front and a rear surface, and a fluid path is defined between the front surface of a blade and the rear surface of an adjacent blade. The fluid path is arranged to extend from around the boss to the outer periphery of the disc. The width of the fluid path decreases gradually from around the boss toward the outer periphery of the disc, but the fluid path has a constant depth. The front and the rear surface of each blade are substantially arranged along circular arcs having different radii of curvature which are struck from a common center point. Center points associated with different blades are disposed on a single imaginary circle which is concentric with the disc.

A segmental ring centrifugal pump wherein the channel ring and the diffuser/crossover hydraulics are formed as a single monolithic casting. By casting the diffuser and the channel ring as a unit, the monolithic diffuser channel ring member and the diffuser vanes provide structural support to the channel ring. The channel ring wall thickness has been reduced by taking advantage of the reinforcing function of the monolithic cast piece. The reinforcement of the channel ring wall and the minimum wall thickness can be adjusted by modifying the radius between the diffuser vanes and the channel ring.

A fan end bracket for a motorized fan assembly has a plurality of curvilinear tapered air passages. Each air passage includes a flow port, such that air being moved by a rotating fan assembly is directed through the air passages and the flow ports. A skeletal motor assembly is affixed to one side of the end bracket such that the motor shaft is disposed through a shaft aperture in the end bracket. A rotating fan member is affixed to the motor shaft adjacent to the other side of the end bracket. A shroud member is provided to shroud the rotating fan member so as to cause the flow of air to be directed through the air passages. A baffle plate is interposed between the rotating fan member and the end bracket. The baffle plate includes a plurality of curvilinear scallops which correspond to the air passages in the end bracket. An effective flow port is created between the scallops of the baffle plate and the tapered ramp surfaces of the end brackets so the size of the effective flow port may be adjusted by merely changing the baffle plate so as to optimize the flow and pressure parameters of the fan for a particular motor size.

Disclosed is an improved stage adaptable for use in multistage centrifugal pumps which find their primary use in moving liquids from deep wells and the like. The pump can include a motor, rotatable drive shaft, external casing and at least one of the improved stages, each stage having an impeller to impart velocity to the liquid and a diffuser to reduce velocity and increase the pressure to force the liquid to the successive stages and to the pump outlet. The impeller is rotated within a stage housing, nonrotatably mounted within the pump casing, and includes a front and rear plate having vanes therebetween which spiral outwardly from the center to the outer edge of the front plate. The front plate extends radially outwardly of the rear plate and terminates in an axially directed flange having a diameter approximating that of the stage housing but clearanced to rotate therein. Liquid thus exits the impeller axially and is received by the overlying diffuser with a minimum of turbulence.
