Abstract
In this paper, the point A.G.E. method is extended to obtain the solution of block tridiagonal linear systems derived from the discretisation of multidimensional elliptic boundary value problems. The numerical results obtained agree with the theoretical results presented earlier.

A parallel algorithm for solving block tridiagonal linear systems

TL;DR: A new form of the arithmetic mean method for solving large block tridiagonal linear systems with coefficient matrices that are symmetric positive definite or positive real or irreducible L-matrices with a strong diagonal dominance is considered.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preconditioned techniques for solving large sparse linear systems arising from the discretization of the elliptic partial differential equations

TL;DR: The BiCG, BiCGSTAB methods are used as preconditioned techniques for solving linear systems arising from a class of fourth-order approximations for solving the elliptic partial differential equation.
Journal ArticleDOI

A new parallel iterative algorithm for solving 2D poisson equation

TL;DR: In this article, a finite difference parallel iterative (FDPI) algorithm for solving 2D Poisson equation was presented and it was demonstrated that the presented algorithm has smaller number of iterations, shorter computational time, and faster convergence rate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Block iterative methods for the nine-point approximation to the convection-diffusion equation

TL;DR: The block successive overrelaxation and the block alternating group explicit (BLAGE) iterative methods are considered for solving the sparse unsymmetric linear system and it is shown that the line|ar system can be effectively solved by the block Gauss-Seidel method.
Journal ArticleDOI

An analytical method as a preconditioning modeling for systems of linear equations

TL;DR: Computational comparisons of the standard methods against preconditioned methods based on experiments are presented which illustrate the merits of the simplicity, power, and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Iterative Solution of Large Linear Systems

TL;DR: The ASM preconditioner B is characterized by three parameters: C0, ρ(E) , and ω , which enter via assumptions on the subspaces Vi and the bilinear forms ai(·, ·) (the approximate local problems).
Journal ArticleDOI

Group explicit iterative methods for solving large linear systems

TL;DR: In this article, the Alternating Group Explicit (AGE) method is applied to derive the solution of a 2-point boundary value problem and the analysis clearly shows the method to be analogous to the A.I.D. method.
