TLDR
The authors investigated the phonetic expression of the contrast between non-palatalized and palatalized trills that has been lost in most Slavic languages and found that the contrast is stabilized through resistance to coarticulation between the trill and surrounding vowels and prosodic positional weakening effects.

TL;DR: The authors showed that the contrast between plain and palatalized labials and coronals is maintained regardless of the place of articulation of the following consonant, regardless of whether the plain segments are possible before other plain segments.

Towards a gestural characterization of liquids: Evidence from Spanish and Russian

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the production of intervocalic liquid consonants by five speakers of Spanish and four speakers of Russian using ultrasound and found that they were united by a lower susceptibility to vocalic coarticulation than coronal obstruents produced in the same environments.

The effect of focus marking on supralaryngeal articulation – Is it mediated by accentuation?

TL;DR: It is concluded that supralaryngeal articulation – in terms of acoustic duration and lip kinematics – is related directly to the expression of focus structure and contrastivity, and is not, contrary to conclusions drawn in previous studies, mediated by the presence or absence of accent.
