The interaction of pantographs and overhead equipment: practical applications of a new theoretical technique

R J Gostling, +1 more
- Vol. 197, Iss: 13
TLDR
Theoretical predictions of the pantograph/overhead interaction are described in this article, together with associated validation experiments and consequent hardware developments, and the concept of a combined pantograph overhead "system" is introduced.

Contact force estimation and regulation in active pantographs: An algebraic observability approach

TL;DR: This paper considers the problem of estimating the contact force in active train pantographs with wire-actuators by means of the measured displacements of the upper and lower pantograph frames, and shows that a previously proposed second-order sliding mode control scheme can be effectively combined with the given contact force estimation method.

A study of train power consumption pattern of tilting train

Su-Gil Lee
TL;DR: In this paper, the voltage supplied to the tilting train (TTX) in trial operation was monitored and analyzed to identify the voltage condition supplied by the existing railroad, and the analyzed data is expected to be helpful in stabilizing the power system and power conversion system of TTX which will run Jonngang and Taebaek line.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

A study on tilting system control of tilting express train in Korea conventional line

Su-Gil Lee
TL;DR: In this article, a tilting train which is suitable for domestic environment was designed with a car made of ultra light nonflammable composite material, instead of existing aluminum car.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

The study of tilting actuator control for Korea tilting train

Su-Gil Lee, +1 more
TL;DR: Appling the tilting train, one can expect 30% of speed up on existing lines, but the stability of the electric current would be low because of tilting the train, and the tilts on pantagraph for the power suppling device is very essential for stable electric power supply.

A Theoric-Experimental Computer Aided Method for the Prediction of Overhead Line Dynamic Behaviour at High Speed

TL;DR: The quality of contact between the overhead line and the pantograph is affected by dynamic interaction, which causes damage in power units and wear in the line.
