TLDR
In this paper, the authors investigated the production of activated alumina from aluminum hydroxide-based waste from the Seydisehir Eti Aluminum Works and found that the results showed that aluminum hydoxide based waste could be converted to activated alumine effectively by using a combination of acid and heat activation processes.

Study on the effectiveness of activated alumina in removing arsenic from groundwater

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of a number of parameters including oxidation state of arsenic, pH, iron, chloride, sulfate; phosphate, activated alumina size, empty bed contact time and the regeneration of spent alumina in removing arsenic by activated aluminina were evaluated.

Fabrication of Activated Alumina Using Aluminum Hydroxide by a Hydrothermal Process

TL;DR: In this article, a new fabrication process for high-quality activated alumina with aluminum hydroxide is introduced, and the effects of aging and drying condition during the fabrication process affected the loss of ignition, the sedimentation time of the alumina suspension, as well as the surface area of the activated alumina.
