The unit load method has been developed to achieve a pre-defined target configuration of section forces in cable-stayed bridges by optimizing the tensioning of the stay-cables The method has been further developed into a versatile design tool that allows the definition of a target distribution of section forces or deflections in any structure This paper briefly describes the method and provides three application examples where this method has been used: a cable stayed bridge, a concrete arch and the application of the method to the automated simulation of the incremental launching process of bridgesread more

Optimization of cable pre-tension forces in long-span cable-stayed bridges considering the counterweight
TL;DR: An optimization method to determine the cable pre-tension forces in long-span cable-stayed bridges considering the counterweight is presented and the results exhibit the importance of considering counterweight in the design of asymmetric cable-Stayed bridges.

An algorithm for simulation of concrete cable-stayed bridges built on temporary supports and considering time dependent effects
TL;DR: In this article, a new algorithm, the Forward-Direct Algorithm (FDA), is presented to simulate the construction process of cable-stayed bridges built on temporary supports.

Construction sequence analysis of long-span cable-stayed bridges
TL;DR: A probabilistic approach is proposed for the evaluation of the effects that uncertainties of stay forces, occurring in the actual stressing sequences on site, have on the bridge behaviour, and probable errors during the real work operations on site are considered here in addition to the theoretical analysis of construction stages.

Partial Elastic Scheme Method in Cantilever Construction of Concrete Arch Bridges
TL;DR: In this article, a study about stay stressing procedures of concrete arch bridges built by cantilevering with temporary stays is presented, and a forward procedure is implemented to follow the actual sequence of construction by extending a procedure already applied to concrete cable-stayed bridges.

Prestressing schemes for incrementally launched bridges
TL;DR: Incremental launching is a competitive construction method for medium-span prestressed concrete bridges as discussed by the authors, in which the superstructure dead load produces temporary flexural and shear stresses within the cross section that are quite different from those produced by the service loads and require special prestressing schemes.
