TLDR
The typical clinical setting, joint fluid findings, and roentgenographic appearance obviate the need for biopsy of the femoral head, and none of the various forms of therapy seem to alter the two- to four-month course of the syndrome appreciably.
Abstract
Transitory demineralization of the femoral head may occur with accompanying pain and disability. The typical clinical setting, joint fluid findings, and roentgenographic appearance obviate the need for biopsy of the femoral head. None of the various forms of therapy which have been proposed seem to alter the two- to four-month course of the syndrome appreciably.

Acute bone marrow edema of the hip: role of MR imaging

TL;DR: MR imaging is able to show marrow involvement in various inflammatory disorders and to diagnose reactive marrow edema from femoroacetabular impingment and greater trochanteric pain syndrome and is more accurate compared with Computed tomography in diagnosing intra-articular osteoid osteomas.

Regional migratory osteoporosis

TL;DR: The radiology of RMO is indistinguishable from transient osteoporosis of the hip (TOH) except for the migratory symptoms and the two conditions are likely to be part of the same spectrum of disease.

Avascular necrosis and bone marrow edema syndrome.

TL;DR: There is strong evidence that bone marrow edema syndrome (TO) is a distinct entity with demonstrable unique histopathology and well-defined demographics.

Regional migratory osteoporosis: a review illustrated by five cases.

TL;DR: The radiological features of the disease obtained by conventional radiography, CT, MRI and radionuclide scintigraphy are illustrated by means of five case reports, which range from the most common presentation of sequential, proximal to distal spread in the lower limb to the rare intra-articular form.

Successful neridronate therapy in transient osteoporosis of the hip

TL;DR: An uncommon case of bilateral transient osteoporosis of the hip occurring in a young woman during pregnancy and the clinical features and the therapeutic action of intramuscular neridronate sodium, a third-generation amino-bisphosphonate, are reported.

Transitory demineralization of the hip in pregnancy. A report of three cases.

TL;DR: Three cases have been presented of a syndronme occurring in pregnant women, characterized by pain of varying severity in one or both hips or thighs and develops in the last trimester of pregnancy, which suspect it to be of neurogenic origin.

Transient osteoporosis of the hip. A nontraumatic variety of Südeck's atrophy.

TL;DR: The clinical presentation was marked by the rapid development of disability, limp, and pain on movement, and the permanence of recovery was assessed by reviewing all the cases except one after an average interval of 2 years.

Migratory osteolysis of the lower extremities.

Roentgenologic Transient Osteoporosis of the Hip

TL;DR: Clinical data on nine adults who had unexplained transient roentgenologic osteoporosis of one hip are presented and the findings and course of illness were similar enough among the patients to cause confusion.
