In this article, the problem of transient axisymmetric vibrations of thin circular elastic plates due to sonic boom excitation is investigated, and the equation of motion for a solid circular plate is solved by applying the modified finite Hankel transform and the Laplace transform.
Abstract
The problem of transient axisymmetric vibrations of thin circular elastic plates due to sonic boom excitation is investigated. The equation of motion for a solid circular plate is solved by applying the modified finite Hankel transform and the Laplace transform, and the numerical results are obtained with the help of the digital computer. From the analysis of the data, obtained for the dynamic deflections of the plates for the boom duration, it is concluded that for a normal flight the boom duration has a significant effect on the vibrations of plates as compared to the overpressure of the boom.

Simplified approach to the vibration analysis of elastic plates due to sonic boom

TL;DR: In this article, a theoretical study of the response of a flat plate to a sonic boom excitation is presented, where the problem of transient vibrations of elastic plates having clamped or simply supported boundary conditions under a pulse load in the shape of a capital N corresponding to a typical far-field sonic boom disturbance is discussed in a new fashion by using the concept of iso-amplitude contour lines on the surface of the plate.

Mechanism of transient sound radiation from a circular plate for impulsive sound wave

TL;DR: In this article, an analytical approach is presented to examine the mechanisms of the transient sound fadiation from a clamped circular plate for impulsive sound wave, and it is noted that one can obtain an arbitrary waveform when the mechanical constants of the plate are controlled.

Dynamic response of a plaster-wood wall to sonic booms using a series solution

TL;DR: In this paper, the dynamic response of one of the walls of a full-scale plaster-wood room to sonic-boom loading is investigated using a series solution, and the response of the wall to either N-waves or resulting room pressure is presented.

Transient vibrations of elastic panels due to the impact of shock waves

TL;DR: In this paper, the dynamic response of elastic panels subjected to pressure loadings by shock waves is investigated, and accurate approximate solutions for the time-history response (displacement as well as strain) are obtained for the cases of both simply supported and completely clamped panels of various polygonal boundary shapes.

Sonic boom effects on circular bridge panels

TL;DR: In this article, the response of a curved bridge deck to sonic boom loading is analyzed using an annular sector plate with the two radial edges simply supported and the circular edges free.
