After reviewing the literature on the coexisting asthma and pregnancy, we suggest a rational approach toward optimal management of asthma in a pregnant patient.
Pregnant women with asthma are at increased risk of maternal and placental complications, and women with moderate/severe asthma may be at particular risk.
Interventions, education, and more support are warranted and wanted by pregnant women with asthma to optimize pregnancy and neonatal outcomes.

Being able to identify complications associated with asthma during pregnancy is of great importance in providing appropriate asthma management and medical care to these pregnant women, which may have lifelong consequences for their offspring.
Our results demonstrated that pregnant women with asthma are at substantially increased risk for several adverse infant and maternal outcomes and suggest the need for extra attention to mothers with asthma and their infants.
The exacerbation rate among pregnant women with asthma is high and associated with poor outcomes for the male fetus.
