Despite some obvious differences, these five countries have enough in common that they can be classified as the "East Asian developmental states'.
This study finds that South-East Asian farming is sensitive to climate change.
In addition to high population densities, land-intensive agriculture is also observed in areas with better access to markets, provided soil conditions are suitable.
The situation in China is seen to be comparable to that in other East and Southeast Asian countries, particularly those which combine a rapidly growing industrial sector with a large rural population engaged in agriculture, such as the Republic of Korea, Thailand, and Indonesia.

Nevertheless, as the trend for land use intensification increases, and as other nutrient constraints are eliminated, micronutrients will inevitably assume greater significance in future agriculture of the Near East.
We find that land use dynamics for the three indicator crops are associated with market demand and thus the opening of national Southeast-Asian economies, research and development of locally suitable high yielding varieties (HYVs), and subsidies for the promotion of seeds and inputs.
In the context of such a country-by-country reassessment of the structural rules of the game, and of the potential role of foreign capital, the relevance or irrelevance of the East Asian experience remains, I believe, an important, if by no means dominant, part of the landscape.

As the trend for land-use intensification increases because of higher yields due to fertilizer use and irrigation and the introduction of new crops, and as other nutrient constraints are eliminated, micronutrients will inevitably assume greater significance in the future agriculture of the Middle East–West Asia region together with improvements in plant breeding and crop management.

Why there is no regional organization in east Asia?5 answersThe absence of a single regional organization in East Asia can be attributed to various factors. Firstly, the region lacks a region-wide institutional arrangement due to the emergence of multiple, competing initiatives and projects, leading to a lack of consensus. Additionally, the private sector's role in developing regional connections has led to claims of under-institutionalization in East Asia. Moreover, the institutional design and politics of the lowest common denominator, exemplified by the ASEAN Way, have hindered effective multilateral cooperation in the region. The rise of China has further complicated regional dynamics, with issues such as big power apprehensions and growing nationalism contributing to the challenges of regional cooperation. These factors collectively contribute to the absence of a cohesive regional organization in East Asia.
What countries have the lowest agricultural density?3 answersThe countries with the lowest agricultural density are Finland, Sweden, and Norway. These countries have low population densities and scattered settlement structures, which make it difficult for them to accommodate specialized industrial clusters that benefit from economies of scale and scope. Additionally, these regions have a sufficient volume of economic activities but are too large in area to create a seedbed for specialized growth relying on inter-firm interaction on a daily basis. Therefore, these countries have low agricultural density due to their unique spatial conditions for knowledge creation and inter-firm learning.
