TL;DR: In this article, the relationship between snow cover and observed maximum and minimum temperature is reviewed, and it is shown that there was a warm bias in the MOS temperature forecasts for the northern Great Plains following the receipt of a fresh cover of snowfall.
Abstract: Research into the relationship between snow cover and observed maximum and minimum temperature is reviewed. An example of the importance of snow cover and forecasting max/min temperatures is presented for this past winter (1976–77). It is shown that there was a warm bias in the MOS temperature forecasts for the northern Great Plains following the receipt of a fresh cover of snowfall. It is proposed that snow cover be incorporated as a conditional predictor to be used only during specific synoptic conditions.

TL;DR: A casket includes a container and a removable cover with the container and cover comprising elongated blanks made of double wall corrugated cardboard as discussed by the authors, each blank is scored and precut to define, when folded, the top and bottom walls, upturned and downturned outwardly tapered side walls, and foldable inwardly directed flaps on all said end walls.
Abstract: A casket includes a container and a removable cover with the container and cover comprising elongated blanks made of double wall corrugated cardboard. Each blank is scored and precut to define, when folded, the aforesaid container and cover respectively, top and bottom walls, upturned and downturned outwardly tapered side walls, upturned and downturned outwardly tapered end walls, and foldable inwardly directed flaps on all said end walls. The flaps register with the corresponding side walls of the container and cover and are secured thereto by an adhesive layer. The cover side and end walls overly and supportably and retainingly engage the corresponding container side and end walls. The cover is snap-fastened and secured to the container by a pair of outwardly directed cut out tabs formed in the end walls of said cover, each defining an anchor stop. The cover anchoring tabs extend downwardly and outwardly from the container end walls and are snap-fitted into and interlocked with the cover anchor stops. A head rest of corrugated cardboard is mounted within said container upon its bottom wall and is of triangular cross section, having a base and converging sides with a triangular notch formed within upper portions of said sides. A sheet of material may be adhered upon one side of each blank, having a wood grain appearance.

TL;DR: In this paper, a cover assembly for open boxes of vehicles is mounted in the open box by being secured at least at corners of a first end thereof at first end of an open box.
Abstract: A cover assembly for open boxes of vehicles is mounted in the open box by being secured at least at corners of a first end thereof at a first end of the open box. A pair of substantially rigid guides is mounted, one on each side wall of the box near the top edge thereof, and the cover is mounted between the guides with a plurality of hooks or other suitable means secured along each side of the flexible cover material so as to be slidable on the guide means. Fasteners, such as rubber shock cords, are provided to secure the second end of the cover remote from the first end at the second end of the open box remote from the first end when the cover is extended along the length of the box. Indicator means such as flags are provided at the second corners of the cover to indicate whether the cover is extended along the box or not. The guide means are preferably a pair of taut cables. A cover is provided at the first end of the box--usually the front end--and means are provided for securing the flexible cover beneath it when it is to be stowed, such as when the box is empty. When the cover is at the front end of the box, it may be formed with an upwardly directed scoop or air deflector, which tends to cause better air flow characteristics over the box when it is being hauled on a highway at highway speeds.

Abstract: An upwardly open box is provided with an inset cover of substantial thickness perforated by a plurality of orifices adapted in size and spacing to the reception and retention of artist's crayons. The peripheral wall of the box, generally rectangular in plan, extends above the upper surface of the inset cover and protects the protruding ends of the crayons against breakage. The vertical location of the cover within the box is variable to accommodate to the changing length of the crayons with wear, by manually adjustable means including projections and recesses for removably securing the inset cover or holder plate in selected vertical positions relative to the box. The manually adjustable means may comprise mechanical means removably securing the inset cover or plate relative to the side walls by means of adjustment elements having cam projection means engageable in slot recesses, or the manually adjustable means may comprise interengageable projections and recesses on the box end walls and on the inset cover or plate, so configurated and arranged that with the inset or holder plate in one endwise position it is supported at one height, and with the cover or plate in a second endwise position then plate is supported at a second height relative to the box.
