TL;DR: In this article, a mechanical pulse trigger (31) is assigned to the sliding contact line (11, 12), which trigger is acted upon by the corresponding current collector (21) in the case of advanced wear of the sliding carbon contact (211) and triggers an electric pulse which leads to an indication of the requirement for the sliding contacts to be changed.
Abstract: of EP0093322In sliding-contact line systems there is the requirement to change the sliding carbon contact (211) wear component forming part of the current collectors (21) with such promptness that an unmonitored failure of loads supplied via the current collectors (21) is avoided. For this purpose, it is proposed to assign a mechanical pulse trigger (31) to the sliding-contact line (11, 12), which trigger is acted upon by the corresponding current collector (21) in the case of advanced wear of the sliding carbon contact (211) and triggers an electric pulse which leads to an indication of the requirement for the sliding carbon contact (211) to be changed.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors propose to improve the safety of a power supplying device by deenergizing a current collector which is not contacted with a trolley wire, which can be used to prevent the collector from overheating when the collector contacts with the trolley wires.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the safety of a power supplying device by deenergizing a current collector which is not contacted with a trolley wire. CONSTITUTION:When a truck 11 travels on rails 1 toward a turntable 14, power is supplied to the truck 11 from a trolley wire 5 through current collectors 8, 10. When the truck 11 transfers from the rails 11 to rails 4 on the turntable 14, the collector 10 is removed out of the wire 5, power is continuously supplied via the collector 8, and the truck 11 travels to the prescribed position. When the turntable 14 is rotated counterclockwise at 90 deg., a trolley wire 7 is contacted with the collector 10, and a trolley wire 6 is contacted with the collector 9. An electromagnetic contactor closes its contact when the collectors 8, 9 make contact with the trolley wires, thereby supplying power to the truck.

TL;DR: In this paper, a current collector for route-bound electric vehicles, such as locomotives, trams, buses or the like moving under overhead lines, is disclosed, in which, for the purpose of punctually detecting a necessary contact element change of the current collector, an optical waveguide is arranged along a wear limit, of the contact element, provided at a distance from the surface of contact.
Abstract: A current collector for route-bound electric vehicles, such as locomotives, trams, buses or the like moving under overhead lines, is disclosed, in which, for the purpose of punctually detecting a necessary contact element change of the current collector, an optical waveguide is arranged along a wear limit, of the contact element, provided at a distance from the surface of the contact. The destruction of the optical waveguide when the predetermined wear limit is reached is converted into a warning signal which indicates to the driver the necessity of changing the contact element.

TL;DR: In this paper, the current collector between a positive ion exchange film and a gas diffusion layer is put into close contact with a metal net, so that the net is half buried in the film and is softened by hot press.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a fuel cell maintaining stable outputs, non-vulnerable to a mechanical impetus, and with an excellent assembling feature by inserting a metal net, i.e., current collector between a positive ion exchange film and a gas diffusion layer so as to unite three of them in one body. CONSTITUTION:A platinum net 2 concurrently serving as current collector is put into a close contact with a positive ion exchange film 1 so that the net 2 is half buried in the film 1 softened by hot press. On the other hand, a gas diffusion layer 3 made by sintering teflon powder and platinum black is mounted on the half exposed film of the net 2 to be united in one body by hot press. This consolidated material is used for methanol-air fuel cell, for instance. In this cell, an anode electrolyte 5 including methanol as a fuel is oxidized by an anode 4 and is decomposed into protons, electrons, and CO2. Protons are moved to the layer 3 through the film 1 and electrons are moved from the anode 4 through an external circuit to the layer 3, where both are combined with O2 in the air to perform a cathode reaction. CO2 is discharged through an outlet 7.

TL;DR: In this paper, a nonaqueous electrolyte cell not swelling even when stored at a high temperature was obtained by immersing an anode previously in a non-aqueous or its solvent to apply a heat treatment before the anode is assembled in the cell.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a nonaqueous electrolyte cell not swelling even when stored at a high temperature by immersing an anode previously in a nonaqueous electrolyte or its solvent to apply a heat treatment before the anode is assembled in the cell. CONSTITUTION:A gasket 3 is coupled with an anode can 1 soldered with an anode current collector 4, and an anode 5 and a separator 6 impregnated with a nonaqueous electrolyte are assembled. Then, the nonaqueous electrolyte 9 is injected, and next a cathode can 2 previously pressed with a light metal cathode 7 is coupled so as to be buried into the gasket 3. Under this condition, the collar section 1a of the can 1 is caulked from the periphery to the inside to complete the assembly. The anode 5 is immersed previously in the electrolyte 9 or its solvent to apply a heat treatment before the anode 5 is assembled into the cell so as to allow the anode 5 to be fully familiarized with the electrolyte 9. Thereby, the cell is prevented from swelling due to gases generated by the decomposition of the electrolyte when the nonaqueous electrolyte cell is kept in store at a high temperature after its assembly.
