Abstract: Several curtain wall system embodiments are described including dry system embodiments, wet system embodiments and a rain screen system embodiment. The dry system embodiments utilize a subframe grid that is comprised of tubular subframe members. The subframe members are interconnected to form a typically rectangular grid that is attached to the substructure of a building using subframe attachment clips that are longitudinally slidably coupled with the subframe members. Panel assemblies are coupled to the subframe grid in a manner that facilitates a water tight seal. In one embodiment, the panel assemblies include perimeter frame members that can be used interchangeably with dry, wet and rain barrier curtain wall systems.

Abstract: There are currently two major types of exterior building envelope finishing systems: window wall systems, and curtain wall systems. Window wall systems use panels which fit between concrete floor slaps, and hence, are prone to leakage and are not aesthetically appealing. Curtain wall systems are installed proud of the concrete slabs, so have better performance, but are expensive to install. The system of the invention has the high performance of a curtain wall system, with the ease of installation of a window wall system. The invention uses rigid panels which cover the face of a building like a curtain wall system, providing a complete gasketed seal without the need for caulking as in the case of window wall systems. The vertical mullions are notched, so that the mullions can be easily anchored to the upper and lower surfaces of the concrete slabs.

Abstract: The Empire State Building was completed in 1931, after only one year and 45 days of construction. At 1250 ft. to the top of the dirigible mooring mast (plus a two hundred foot tall T.V. and radio antenna mast) the Empire State Building was the world's tallest building for over 40 years. A New York City Landmark, the Empire State building has also been cited by the ASCE as a National Civil Engineering Landmark. One of the many innovative characteristics of the building is the unique early curtain wall design for this building's facade. This wall system bridged the technology of the traditional rigid masonry facades that predated it, and pioneered the concepts of flexibility that are now commonly incorporated into high rise building curtain walls. This article examines the challenges faced by the designers of the building and by the restoration engineers in its repair after 60 years of service. It should be noted here that 60 years without major restoration represents a very respectable service life for the exterior wall system of a high-rise building.

Abstract: The utility model relates to a glass curtain wall and connecting parts of a roofing rotary disc, which comprise a support base and a transfer part, wherein, one end of the support base is connected with a girder, the other end of the support base is connected with the transfer part, the transfer part is connected with one end of two or more than two support arms, the support base and the transfer part are connected through a spherical hinge, and the support arms are hinged with the transferring part. The utility model has the characteristics of rapid construction, simple structure and convenient construction and operation.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wall surface displaying device for a curtain wall skyscraper easy to materialize by devising a sash bar for attaching a panel member of the curtain wall without working on the panel member basically, by which a wall surface of the skyscraper is made to function as a huge screen display under the environment that the huge curtain wall skyscraper is viewed from a long distance across a large river, a bay, a railway, or an express highway, for example. SOLUTION: In the curtain wall skyscraper, an exterior wall is constructed by fixing a number of panel members, which are connected to each other in series, to a supporting mechanism fixed to slabs or beams of a structural skeleton, and a number of sash bars for fixing edges of the panel members are arranged in parallel on a surface of the exterior wall. In the skyscraper, a number of multi-colored lamp units are mounted on each of the sash bars. The lamp units are arrayed on the exterior wall surface to be distributed evenly. The lamp units including the electric wiring along the sash bars are connected electrically to a display driving system, which controls luminous colors and brightness, independently.
