Abstract: 1,151,875. Automatic temperature control systems. WAGGON BAU DESSAU VEB. June 14, 1966, No.26432/66. Heading G3R. A system for a temperature controlled van comprises duplicate diesel generator units each supplying a refrigeration compressor or heaters alternatively, in dependence on temperature, arranged in a main and auxiliary mode. Initially both diesel units are run until the desired temperature is reached when the auxiliary unit is stopped leaving the main unit to cope with refrigerating or heating load. If however the load persists for more than a time determined by a heater acting on a semi-conductor such as a thermistor, indicating an inability of the main unit to cope, then the auxiliary unit is started. Similarly if the main unit malfunctions due to say low oil pressure or high oil temperature, the auxiliary unit is started and the main unit is stopped. Switches are incorporated to reverse the functions of the units and to provide manual control. In the arrangement -described a number of non- adjustable thermostats are employed switchable to select the desired temperature.
