Abstract: A system is described that provides subtraction of horizonta l edges and enhancement of those edges oriented in any other direction in a television image of a roentgenogram. The technique and circuitry are described briefly. The dependence of edge-enhancement on signal delay and contrast in the original image is elucidated. Examples of the application of this technique in clinical radiology and teaching are presented.

Abstract: This paper discusses the enhancement of images to restore detail that has been ob­ scured by blurring. An optical analog method and several digital methods of performing this processing are discussed. Sample results from one of the digital methods are shown.
