TL;DR: In this article, a device for operating frusto-conical optical concentrators made of a refringent material of refractive index n, the major base of which is in the vicinity of a source S, is described.
Abstract: A device for operating frusto-conical optical concentrators made of a refringent material of refractive index n, the major base of which is in the vicinity of a source S, said device comprising, at the upper portion of a frustum of a cone, a frusto-conical reflector surrounding said frustum over a given height along the frustum axis of symmetry, the inner surface of said frusto-conical reflector being parallel to the frustum lateral surface and located at a small distance therefrom, and said given height being at least equal to the ordinate of a point A as measured along the frustum axis of symmetry from the apex of said frustum, point A being the point at which the ray emitted by source S which is the most inclined with respect to the frustum axis of symmetry, undergoes its first reflection on the frustum surface, at an angle to the normal to the frusto-conical lateral surface at point A, said angle being smaller than the angle of total reflection.

TL;DR: In this article, a pad is provided made from resilient sheet material and of single sheet thickness or cross section, having a socket for receiving an article to space it from its outer box, the pad being positioned angularly at the box corner.
Abstract: A pad is provided made from resilient sheet material and of single sheet thickness or cross section. The pad is, in general, in the overall form of a frustum having a socket for receiving an article to space it from its outer box, the pad being positioned angularly at the box corner. Further, the pad is flexibly deformable to cushion the article on impact. In use in a box, four pads are placed in the bottom corners of the box; the article is then guidedly slid into seated engagement with the sockets of the pads; and then, the top four pads are placed on the top of the article, after which the top of the box is closed. The pads are stackable in nested condition, thereby facilitating storage and shipment to the point of use.

TL;DR: A rotary drum pelletizer has multiple internal cone frustum baffles, interconnected serially to constitute a removable liner replaceably received within the drum and interchangeable with one or another of a series of such liners as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: A rotary drum pelletizer has multiple internal cone frustum baffles. The cone frustum baffles are interconnected serially to constitute a removable liner replaceably received within the drum and interchangeable with one or another of a series of such liners, each having different cone frustum baffle configurations. Means are provided to releasably fasten said liners to said drum. By interchanging one liner for another, the pelletizer drum can be adapted to process particulate material of widely varying characteristics to achieve desired pellet sizes, shapes and consistency.

TL;DR: In this article, an elastic interlay between the contact-bridge carrier and the armature of a relay is proposed to minimize the lateral shockloading of the contactbridge carrier when the relay is switched off so that resulting mechanical moments are kept relatively small.
Abstract: An arrangement for coupling the armature and contact-bridge carrier for an electromagnetic switching device, such as a relay which comprises an elastic interlay interposed between the contact-bridge carrier and the armature of the relay. The interlay is shaped substantially like the frustum of a cone. The first surface or base of the cone contacts the contact-bridge carrier, while the second surface or cut-off side of the cone frustum, contacts the armature. This arrangement, minimizes the lateral shock-loading of the contact-bridge carrier when the relay is switched off so that resulting mechanical moments are kept relatively small. Further, the arrangement provides an increased level of damping.
