TL;DR: Studies on the mutual chemical interferences in the atomic-absorption spectroscopy of Ca, Mg, Ba, Sr, Ti, Zr, Hf, Fe, as simple salts and metallocenes show that the results can be interpreted in terms of formation of mixed oxides of two elements, non-volatility of the mixed oxide compound, and the crystal structure of the Mixed oxide compound.

Abstract: Phenols represented by the formula WHEREIN R1, R2, R3 and R4 represent individually a hydrogen atom or a methyl, ethyl, isopropyl, tert-butyl or a like saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group, are selectively methylated in ortho-position by reacting the phenols with methanol in a gas phase at an elevated temperature using as a catalyst (1) (a) cerium oxide or a mixed oxide of rare earth elements composed mainly of cerium oxide; (2) a mixed oxide comprising said (a) in combination with (b) at least one oxide selected from the group consisting of titanium oxide, tin oxide, antimony oxide and bismuth oxide; (3) a mixed oxide comprising said (a) in combination with magnesium oxide; or (4) said (a) and (b) in combination with magnesium oxide.

TL;DR: Refractory mixed oxide catalysts as discussed by the authors are made by partially hydrolysing an alkoxide of groups II-VI elements, admixing with at least one other element from groups I and V-VIII and completing hydrolysis.
Abstract: 1,170,622. Mixed refractory oxide catalysts. BRITISH PETROLEUM CO. 14 Dec., 1967 [10 Jan., 1967], No. 1246/67. Heading B1E. [Also in Division C5] Refractory mixed oxide catalysts are made by partially hydrolysing an alkoxide of Groups II-VI elements, admixing with at an alkoxide of another element from Groups II-VI and completing hydrolysis. Additionally the catalyst may contain a further component selected from Groups I and V-VIII which is different from the refractory oxides resulting from hydrolysis. Examples describe Pd on SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 , Pt on SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 , NOT on SiO 2 - Al 2 O 3 and Ni on SiO 2 -Al 2 O 3 .

Abstract: A study is made of the dehydrogenation of 4-ethylpyridine over a mixed oxide catalyst, at atmospheric pressure, using dilution with steam, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen. Maximum yields of 4-vinylpyridine are obtained when the dehydrogenation is carried out at 620° C, feed rate 500 ml/l catalyst/hr, and CO2 dilution of the 4-ethylpyridine at a mass ratio of 1∶2–1∶3.
