TL;DR: In this paper, a rewinder-tail sealer is applied to a partially wound log and the log rewound by rolling on itself toward and into a pair of spaced-apart rollers.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for handling logs of convolutely wound webs which includes providing a rewinder-tail sealer wherein a glue stripe is applied to a predetermined circumferential location on a partially unwound log and the log rewound by rolling on itself toward and into a pair of spaced-apart rollers, providing a path from the roller pair to log receiver wherein logs sequentially roll in the path, the path having fixed dimensions, operating the rewinder-tail sealer to develop logs of a first nominal diameter to enable the roller pair to controllably rotate each log for positioning the glue stripe at a first angular orientation, which in combination with the fixed dimensioned path enables each log to be received in the receiver with its glue stripe in a second angular orientation, changing the operation of the rewinder to develop logs of a second nominal diameter, and by correlating the second nominal diameter with the fixed dimensioned path to enable each second nominal diameter log to be received in said receiver with its glue stripe in the second angular orientation and adjusting the spacing between the roller pair to be slightly less than the second nominal diameter.

TL;DR: In this article, the relationship between price changes and trade sizes was examined, and it was shown that order flow data is better than trade data in testing for infor mation content.
Abstract: By examining the relationship between price changes and trade sizes, we can draw conclusions on three issues. These are: (i) why order flow data is better than trade data in testing for infor Mation content; (ii) the relationship between simple permanent and temporary price effects and order size; and (iii) whether it is possible to measure infor Mation asymmetry using a simple specification test. As a subsidiary issue, we compare different order/trade size measures. We find: (i) orders are clearly better measures than trades; (ii) both permanent and temporary price effects are order‐size‐related; and (iii) it is possible to measure infor Mation asymmetry in order flow in this way, and the ability to do so increases with trading volume. (An alternative explanation for the last result is that it is purely driven by sample size.)

TL;DR: In this article, the size of a characteristic object is adjusted by using the value of W2-W1, a fuction of the location of an exposure field, and generated by the total dispersion caused by X rays which are not collimated.
Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the size of a characteristic object to be etched accurate, and uniformly distribute the object, by determining coordinate points of the object, with respect to coordinate system having an origin, and calculating increment and decrement for correcting the nominal size. SOLUTION: A wafer 30 having a resist pattern layer 34 for protecting is arranged in a reactive ion etching equipment. Tons are almost collimated by the effect of a bias applied to the wafer 30, and implanted in a composition containing a substrate 22. On a conducting layer 32 existing in the base of characteristic object, W1 which is a projection in the vertical direction to the section of resist has a size different from that of a projection W2 existing in the end portion of a field. The variation (W2-W1) is a fuction of the location of an exposure field, and generated by the total dispersion caused by X rays which are not collimated. The size of the characteristic object is adjusted by using the value of W2-W1.

TL;DR: In this article, an article of manufacture includes a medium having a plurality of checkerboard patches recorded thereon and each of the patches is of equal nominal tint and formed of dots.
Abstract: An article of manufacture includes a medium having a plurality of checkerboard patches recorded thereon. Each of the patches is of equal nominal tint and formed of dots. The dots of each of the patches are of equal nominal size with the size being different from that of the dots forming all other patches. One of the patches is arranged adjacent to all other patches.
