TL;DR: In this article, the geometric characteristics of a hypoid face gear in mesh with an involute spur pinion are analyzed, including the maximum diameter of the hypoid gear to avoid pointing of the teeth, minimum diameter for avoiding undercutting, contact ratio, field of contact and variation of the pressure angle along the face of the pinion.
