TL;DR: A qualitative assessment of the effects of modern software methods on the Pdvanced Mobile Phone Service system from a management point of view is presented.
Abstract: In recent years, a great deal has been written on software engineering. improved productivity through structured design and programmin has been a primiry concern. Most of the work in the field is related to general purpose computing, business data processing, and systems procjramming. Little has been reported on the application of riodern software development techniques to real-time control software where program size and efficiency of execution are primary considerations. The Pdvanced Mobile Phone Service (PMPS) system wa s developed by the Fell System to provide nationwide mobile service. It is a large complex real-time control system. This paper presents a qualitative assessment of the effects of modern software methods on this system from a management point of view.
