TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed to remove B2O3 in the first spray tower and SO2 in the second spray tower individually, where the spray towers are arranged in series and drawing out one part of circulation liquid of the first spraying tower to a neutralization tank to control pH.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To inhibit generation of scaling in the second spray tower by removing B2O3 in the first spray tower and SO2 in the second spray tower individually wherein the spray towers are arranged in series and drawing out one part of circulation liquid of the first spray tower to a neutralization tank to control pH. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas contg. SO2 and B2O3 of a glass melting furnace is introduced into the first spray tower 1 and B2O3 contained in exhaust gas is removed by spray liquid and thereafter it is introduced into the second spray tower 2 via a duct 4 to absorb and remove SO2 contained in exhaust gas by spray soln. such as spray water and CaCO3 introduced to control pH. Produced gypsum slurry is sent to the second thickener 11. One part of circulation liquid of the spray tower 1 is drawn out to a neutralization tank 9 and Ca(OH)2 fed from a feeder 8 of a neutralizing agent is introduced into dissolved liquid of B2O3 to produce a solid material of calcium borate and it is sent to the first thickener 10 together with gypsum slurry liquid fed from the second thickener 11 and concentrated and thereafter a solid material 14 is recovered in a dehydrator 13.
