TL;DR: Fungi, such as Trichoderma harzianum, Aspergillus flavus, A. niger, Penicillium rubrum, Curvularia lunata and Fusarium poae, showed strong competitive ability and tolerance to the combined staling products of rhizosphere fungi, while S. rolfsii on agar staled by these individual fungi was studied in detail.
Abstract: The growth of Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc., a causal organism of root disease of Lens esculenta Moench, and that of several rhizosphere fungi from this host, was studied on agar plates staled by rhizosphere fungi of the host. Fungi, such as Trichoderma harzianum , Aspergillus flavus , A. niger, Penicillium rubrum, Curvularia lunata and Fusarium poae , showed strong competitive ability and tolerance to the combined staling products of rhizosphere fungi. Growth of S. rolfsii on agar staled by these individual fungi was studied in detail. Emphasis was laid on interspecific competition, antagonistic activity, and colony and hyphal interactions between the pathogen and these fungi. T. harzianum markedly depressed the growth of S. rolfsii . Necrotrophic mycoparasitic activity of S. rolfsi towards A. flavus and A. niger was also observed.
