TL;DR: No initial clinical response was obtained from treatment with cycloguanil pamoate (Camolar), and an acquired or genetically determined defect in the immune or inflammatory systems of the patients who develop this rare form of leishmaniasis is postulated.
Abstract: The discovery of a case of disseminated anergic cutaneous leishmaniasis endogenous to Texas and the Mexican states of Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon is of epidemiologic importance. An acquired or genetically determined defect in the immune or inflammatory systems of the patients who develop this rare form of leishmaniasis is postulated. No initial clinical response was obtained from treatment with cycloguanil pamoate (Camolar).

TL;DR: During the past few years several cases of kala-azar and one of mucocutaneous leishmaniasis have been observed at the Nemazi Hospital in Shiraz, and an account of these observations may be of great epidemiological significance.
Abstract: Cutaneous leishmaniasis is endemic throughout Iran, visceral leishmaniaqis has been recorded sporadically (PotrcA, 1951; GRotto, 1967), but to our knowledge mucocutaneous leishmaniasis has not been reported in Iran or in this part of the world; it is thought to occur primarily in Latin America. During the past few years several cases of kala-azar and one of mucocutaneous leishmaniasis have been observed at the Nemazi Hospital in Shiraz. An account of these observations may be of great epidemiological significance.
