Sequencing batch reactor technology for landfill leachate treatment: A state-of-the-art review.
Ahmad Hussaini Jagaba,Shamsul Rahman Mohamed Kutty,Ibrahim Mohammed Lawal,Ibrahim Mohammed Lawal,S. Abubakar,Ibrahim Hassan,I. Zubairu,I. Umaru,Abdurrasheed Said Abdurrasheed,Abdurrasheed Said Abdurrasheed,Asrul Adam,A.A.S. Ghaleb,N.M.Y. Almahbashi,B.N.S. Al-dhawi,Azmatullah Noor +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive review of existing research articles on the pros and cons of various leachate degradation methods is presented, in line with environmental sustainability, the article stressed on the application and efficiency of sequencing batch reactor (SBR) system treating landfill leachates due to its operational flexibility, resistance to shock loads and high biomass retention.
Journal ArticleDOI
Response surface methodology to optimize methane production from mesophilic anaerobic co-digestion of oily-biological sludge and sugarcane bagasse.
A.A.S. Ghaleb,Shamsul Rahman Mohamed Kutty,Yeek-Chia Ho,Ahmad Hussaini Jagaba,Azmatullah Noor,Abdulnaser M. Al-Sabaeei,N.M.Y. Almahbashi +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the use of sugarcane bagasse (SB) as an effective co-substrate due to its high C/N ratio and high volatile solids (VS) content is investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Optimization of Preparation Conditions of Sewage sludge based Activated Carbon
N.M.Y. Almahbashi,Shamsul Rahman Mohamed Kutty,Muhammad Ayoub,Azmatullah Noor,Ibrahim Umar Salihi,Ahmed Al-Nini,Ahmad Hussaini Jagaba,B.N.S. Al-dhawi,A.A.S. Ghaleb +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a series of activated carbons were chemically activated using potassium hydroxide (KOH) and physically activated by pyrolysis process in tube furnace and the response of optimization process was the surface area of activated carbon which was depicted by the second-order polynomial regression model created by ANOVA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sustainable use of natural and chemical coagulants for contaminants removal from palm oil mill effluent: A comparative analysis
Ahmad Hussaini Jagaba,Ahmad Hussaini Jagaba,Shamsul Rahman Mohamed Kutty,Gasim Hayder,Ab Aziz Abdul Latiff,Nur Adila Ab Aziz,I. Umaru,A.A.S. Ghaleb,S. Abubakar,Ibrahim Mohammed Lawal,Ibrahim Mohammed Lawal,M.A. Nasara +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the optimum coagulant dose for various co-agulants was determined using the one-way analysis of variance (One-Way ANOVA) of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 17.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sugarcane Bagasse as a Co-Substrate with Oil-Refinery Biological Sludge for Biogas Production Using Batch Mesophilic Anaerobic Co-Digestion Technology: Effect of Carbon/Nitrogen Ratio
A.A.S. Ghaleb,Shamsul Rahman Mohamed Kutty,Gasim Hayder Ahmed Salih,Ahmad Hussaini Jagaba,Azmatullah Noor,Vicky Kumar,N.M.Y. Almahbashi,Anwar Ameen Hezam Saeed,B.N.S. Al-dhawi +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the best C/N with co-substrate volatile solids (VS)/inoculum VS ratios for the co-digestion process of mixtures were determined empirically through batch experiments at temperatures of 35-37 °C, pH (6-8) and 60 rpm mixing.
