Journal ArticleDOI
Determination of mode III fracture toughness for different materials using a new designed test configuration
TL;DR: In this article, the Edge Notched Disc Bend (ENDB) is proposed for experimental determination of KIIIc, which is a circular disc containing an edge crack created along the disc diameter which is subjected to three-point bend loading.
Journal ArticleDOI
A novel test specimen for investigating the mixed mode I+III fracture toughness of hot mix asphalt composites – Experimental and theoretical study
TL;DR: In this article, the Edge Notched Disc Bend (ENDB) is used for fracture testing of asphalt composites under mixed mode I/III deformation, which is a disc containing an edge crack created through one side of specimen along the diameter and is loaded by a threepoint bend fixture.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mixed mode fracture toughness testing of PMMA with different three-point bend type specimens
TL;DR: In this article, the mixed-mode fracture behavior of PMMA was studied experimentally and theoretically using four different test configurations and with different crack types, and the level of crack tip constraint in the tested samples (which is related to the stress intensity factors ( K ) and the T -stress) was used as the main affecting parameter for predicting the mixed mode fracture results based on a two-parameter fracture theory.
Journal ArticleDOI
Numerical analysis of a new mixed mode I/III fracture test specimen
TL;DR: In this article, a new test configuration called the edge notched disc bend specimen is suggested for investigating mixed mode I/III fracture behavior, which is a circular disc containing an inclined edge crack thorough the diameter and is subjected to three point bend loading.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rock Fracture Toughness Study Under Mixed Mode I/III Loading
TL;DR: In this article, the mixed mode I/III fracture toughness of a typical rock material is investigated experimentally by means of a cracked disc specimen subjected to bend loading, and the obtained experimental fracture toughness results were finally predicted using theoretical and empirical fracture models.
