Gas-liquid partition chromatography: the separation and micro-estimation of volatile fatty acids from formic acid to dodecanoic acid
A. T. James,A. J. P. Martin +1 more
TL;DR: Modifications necessary to the theory of Martin & Synge (1941) to allow for the compressibility of the mobile phase are presented and the application of the gas-liquid partition chromatogram to the separation of volatile fatty acids is described.
Book
Lipid biochemistry: an introduction
Michael I. Gurr,A. T. James +1 more
TL;DR: The picture of the structure of the fatty acid synthetase has changed dramatically, bringing a new concept in enzymology - the multicatalytic polypeptide chain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gas-liquid chromatography: the separation and identification of the methyl esters of saturated and unsaturated acids from formic acid to n-octadecanoic acid
A. T. James,A. J. P. Martin +1 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Gas-liquid partition chromatography: the separation and micro-estimation of ammonia and the methylamines.
Journal ArticleDOI
The biosynthesis of long-chain fatty acids by lettuce chloroplast preparations
P.K. Stumpf,A. T. James +1 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the major site of biosynthesis of saturated fatty acids from C10 to C18 and of oleic acid in leaves is the chloroplast and the synthesis of fatty acids is inhibited by NH3 and 3(p-chlorophenyl) 1,1-dimethyl urea but not by dinitrophenol.
