Journal ArticleDOI
Anastomotic biliary strictures after liver transplantation: Causes and consequences
Robert C. Verdonk,Carlijn I. Buis,Robert J. Porte,Eric J. van der Jagt,Abraham J. Limburg,Aad P. van den Berg,Maarten J.H. Slooff,Paul M. J. G. Peeters,Koert P. de Jong,Jan H. Kleibeuker,Elizabeth B. Haagsma +10 more
TL;DR: Graft and patient survival were not impaired by AS, and patients presenting more than 6 months after transplantation needed more episodes of stenting by ERCP, and more stents per episode compared to those presenting within 6 months and recurred more often.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hypothermic Machine Perfusion in Liver Transplantation — A Randomized Trial
Rianne van Rijn,Ivo J. Schurink,Yvonne de Vries,Aad P. van den Berg,Miriam Cortes Cerisuelo,Sarwa Darwish Murad,Joris I. Erdmann,Nicholas Gilbo,Robbert J. de Haas,Nigel Heaton,Bart van Hoek,Volkert A.L. Huurman,Ina Jochmans,Otto B. van Leeuwen,Vincent E de Meijer,D. Monbaliu,W.G. Polak,Jules J.G. Slangen,Roberto I. Troisi,Aude Vanlander,Jeroen de Jonge,Robert J. Porte +21 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors showed that liver transplantation after circulatory death is associated with an increased risk of nonanastomotic biliary strictures and hypothermic oxygenated machine (HOMEM) was used to treat the strictures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pretransplant sequential hypo- and normothermic machine perfusion of suboptimal livers donated after circulatory death using a hemoglobin-based oxygen carrier perfusion solution.
Yvonne de Vries,Alix P M Matton,Maarten W. N. Nijsten,Maureen J M Werner,Aad P. van den Berg,Marieke T. de Boer,Carlijn I. Buis,Masato Fujiyoshi,Ruben H J de Kleine,Otto B. van Leeuwen,Peter Meyer,Marius C. van den Heuvel,Vincent E de Meijer,Robert J. Porte +13 more
TL;DR: A protocol of sequential DHOPE, controlled oxygenated rewarming (COR), and NMP using a new hemoglobin-based oxygen carrier (HBOC)-based perfusion fluid offers a novel method of liver machine perfusion for combined resuscitation and viability testing of suboptimal livers prior to transplantation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Yellow fever in a traveller returning from Suriname to the Netherlands, March 2017
Marjan Wouthuyzen-Bakker,Marjolein Knoester,Aad P. van den Berg,Corine H. GeurtsvanKessel,Marion Koopmans,Coretta Van Leer-Buter,Bob Oude Velthuis,Suzan D. Pas,Wilhelmina L.M. Ruijs,Jonas Schmidt-Chanasit,S. Vreden,Tjip S. van der Werf,Chantal Reusken,Wouter F W Bierman +13 more
TL;DR: A Dutch traveller returning from Suriname in early March 2017, presented with fever and severe acute liver injury and developed hepatic encephalopathy requiring transfer to the intensive care.
Journal ArticleDOI
No increased risk of hepatocellular carcinoma in cirrhosis due to Wilson disease during long‐term follow‐up
Suzanne van Meer,Robert A. de Man,Aad P. van den Berg,Roderick H. J. Houwen,Francisca H. H. Linn,Martijn G.H. van Oijen,Peter D. Siersema,Karel J. van Erpecum +7 more
TL;DR: This work determines HCC risk in a well‐defined cohort of Wilson patients and concludes that patients with Wilson disease are at high risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma.
