Journal ArticleDOI
Intra-amniotic administration of lipopolysaccharide induces spontaneous preterm labor and birth in the absence of a body temperature change
Nardhy Gomez-Lopez,Roberto Romero,Marcia Arenas-Hernandez,Bogdan Panaitescu,Valeria Garcia-Flores,Tara N. Mial,Aashna Sahi,Sonia S. Hassan +7 more
TL;DR: A model of intra-amniotic lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced preterm labor/birth that resembles the subclinical syndrome is established and this model is compared to two established models of LPS-induced preterm Labor/birth.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin Has Anti-Inflammatory Effects at the Maternal-Fetal Interface and Prevents Endotoxin-Induced Preterm Birth, but Causes Dystocia and Fetal Compromise in Mice
Amy Eunice Furcron,Roberto Romero,Tara N. Mial,Tara N. Mial,Amapola Balancio,Bogdan Panaitescu,Sonia S. Hassan,Sonia S. Hassan,Aashna Sahi,Claire Nord,Nardhy Gomez-Lopez,Nardhy Gomez-Lopez +11 more
TL;DR: Insight is provided into the mechanisms whereby hCG induces an anti-inflammatory microenvironment at the maternal-fetal interface during late gestation, and its effectiveness in preventing preterm labor/birth is demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effects of advanced maternal age on T-cell subsets at the maternal–fetal interface prior to term labor and in the offspring: a mouse study
Dustyn Levenson,Roberto Romero,Valeria Garcia‐Flores,Derek Miller,Yi Xu,Aashna Sahi,Sonia S. Hassan,Nardhy Gomez-Lopez +7 more
TL;DR: It is reported that advanced maternal age impaired the process of labor at term, inducing dystocia and delaying the timing of delivery, and infants born to advanced‐age mothers had alterations in the T‐cell repertoire but not in CD3−CD71+TER119+ cells.
