A novel hybrid MCDM model for performance evaluation of research and technology organizations based on BSC approach

Many organizations choose business sustainability to meet environmental, social, and financial demands to ensure responsible and long-term success. In order to achieve this, enterprises have to fully and optimally apply their resources. Intellectual capital is one of their most important resources creating market value and reinforcing sustainable competitive advantages. The main goal of the paper is to indicate which elements of the intellectual capital of small and medium-sized enterprises in Poland have the greatest impact on their sustainable development in the opinions of managers. The study took into account 1041 economic entities. Managers of small and medium enterprises operating in Poland have been asked to assess the elements of intellectual capital. The paper utilizes a new approach to the importance assessment of the impact of each characteristic on business sustainability. It is based on intuitionistic fuzzy sets. The proposed method is especially useful when variables are measured on an ordinal scale. In accordance with the classical theory of measurement, it does not allow the majority of arithmetic calculations to be performed. Based on the results of the research it has been determined that the most important factors are those which constitute human capital. Moreover, the observation has been made that there is a high degree of coherence of opinions expressed by managers of small and medium enterprises. The results of the research can be applied by both managers of enterprises in managing intellectual capital and employees of companies, by increasing their awareness of the topic of the influence of intellectual capital on business sustainability.

Can Elements of Intellectual Capital Improve Business Sustainability?—The Perspective of Managers of SMEs in Poland

Prodigious growth of the internet offers companies many chances to implement new business models, which led to the search of novel techniques for conducting effective marketing business and to reinforce their competitiveness in the marketplace. Commerce is now undergoing a revolutionary phase, where the medium of communication between the customer and the merchant is electronic. The cutting edge for business today is e-marketing. Now there is a need to leverage the knowledge of domain experts in evaluating the consumer decision making in the e-marketplace. The purpose of this study is to construct influential network relation map INRM of consumer decision making in the e-marketplace. For this decision making trial and evaluation laboratory DEMATEL approach is used to investigate the interrelation among perspectives and criteria by the survey of experts. This study provides solutions to improve service quality, optimise source allocation, customise their product/services according to the need of customers and enhance online reputation by increasing customer retention.

Using DEMATEL to construct influential network relation map of consumer decision-making in e-marketplace

The eulogise technological development and the corresponding research taking place in Nigerian terrain vis-a-vis the inability to achieve complete technological up gradation from citizen perspective is the rationale of the present study. It intends to know the influencing factors of the customer's usage of mobile banking as a part of technological ascent. The study also collected the information regarding the devices used by the customers, their level of satisfaction, the challenges they are encountering and the suggestions for the services providers. An unbiased sample of 400 is selected from four regions of Nigeria by using stratified random sampling. The collected data is analysed using suitable statistical techniques. The results portrayed the real picture of Nigerian technological domain, that, though the customers are having good knowledge about the devices, access to mobile banking, their convenience and satisfaction of usage are very low.

An assessment of the impact of mobile banking on traditional banking in Nigeria

In recent years, strategic alliances have seen explosive growth in various practical fields. Various forms of strategic alliances and cooperation models have been widely used among various organizations and have received considerable attention from academic and practical circles. However, there are many factors that affect the success of marketing alliances, and the academic community has not reached a conclusion and consensus. Among them, the establishment and monitoring of a performance evaluation mechanism is one of the key points. In the past, many academic studies have devoted themselves to the establishment of performance evaluation mechanisms for many different industries, but few of them have focused on the establishment of performance evaluation mechanisms for marketing alliances between the service industry and the banking industry. The purpose of this study is to assist in the establishment of performance evaluation indicators for marketing alliance between the catering industry and credit card issuing banks by using expert Delphi, fuzzy analytic hierarchy process and balanced scorecard methods. The main result of this study is to establish five key performance evaluation indicators including customer factors, cooperative alliance factors, financial factors, learning and growth factors, and internal process factors. In terms of secondary indicators, there are seven customer sub-factors, six cooperative alliance sub-factors, five financial sub-factors, seven internal processes sub-factors, and five learning and growth sub-factors, totaling 30 sub-factors. The research results can be used as a reference for academic and practical areas.

Research on the construction of performance indicators for the marketing alliance of catering industry and credit card issuing banks by using the balanced scorecard and fuzzy ahp

The performance evaluation of banks has important results for creditors, investors and stakeholders since it determines banks’ capabilities to compete in the sector and has critical importance for the development of the sector. The aim of this study is to propose a fuzzy multi-criteria decision model to evaluate the performance of Iranian banks. The three largest commercial banks of the Iranian banking sector are examined and the performance of each is evaluated. Drawing on the four perspectives of a balanced scorecard (BSC), this research first summarised the evaluation indices synthesised from the literature relating to banking performance. Then, to screen these indices, 22 indices were selected for banking performance evaluation. Performance evaluation of banks using balanced scorecard

Over the last few decades, companies have invested in technological competency that such an investment would improve operating efficiency and thus improves financial and non-financial performance. The principle of core competency is the basis of acquiring competitive advantage. Technological competency is the most tangible type of the core competencies in the firm level, which helps the firm to make the best use of its opportunities by producing new products and also by extending new processes inside the firm, relative to the competitors. The firm, whose technology competency level is higher than rivals, will generate and introduce more innovative products. The model of this study is tested on a sample of 12 experts in four coil companies in Iran which own about 90% of the market share in the coil industry. In this research, technological competency factors are prioritised according to the competitive advantage levels and competitive priorities by using fuzzy analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy TOPSIS with the aim of maximising the financial and non-financial performance at coil manufacture industry. The results of using two fuzzy techniques to prioritise competencies indicate that in the coil industry in Iran, process technology is of greater importance than product technology and technology management.

Using fuzzy AHP and fuzzy TOPSIS methods for prioritisation of technological competencies to maximise the financial and non-financial performance

According to the significant and increasing role of knowledge in economy, business, and managerial processes, identifying the nature of intellectual capital and its measurement are getting increasingly important. In this king of economy, intellectual capital is of most important organisational assets. Generally, organisational successes are originated from their intellectual capital. So, intellectual capital means mental information, knowledge, mental asset, and the experience which is applied for making value. The model of this study is tested on a sample of 30 experts in three oil companies in Iran which own about 90% of the market share in the oil industry. In this study, regarding to the different levels of sub-scale used for human resources, organisational asset, communicative asset, and sub-scale used for intellectual capital measuring indexes were ranked in oil industry by using fuzzy analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy TOPSIS. The results obtained from both methods indicate that Oil Pipeline and Telecommunication Company is more significant than National Gas Company and Oil Product Distribution Company in the oil industry.

Prioritising (ranking) of indexes for measuring intellectual capital using FAHP and fuzzy TOPSIS techniques

Science and technology in this competitive world have provided new constraints, complexities and situations and they could be known as the engine of the world’s economical and social development. Correct exploitation of fast developments of science and technology, management of technological changes and innovation, demand access to daily and progressive knowledge, which is the one of trend and attempt factor of organisations in the scope of knowledge management in the last few years. In this paper, three project-orientation companies, [Pars Aviation Development Investment Company (PADICO), Septa Management Engineers Consulting and AVA BEHBOOD Engineering Services Company], have been prioritised regarding the level of manpower (ordinary personnel, key personnel, top managers), knowledge management sub-criteria and quintuplet knowledge management scopes (data, information, knowledge, wisdom, personnel) using fuzzy analytic hierarchy process to maximise the proficiency of knowledge management. Results show that AVA BEHBOOD services company, Pars Aviation Department Company (PADCO), Septa Management Engineers Consulting are on the first, second and last priorities, respectively.

Presenting a model to evaluate the fuzzy AHP knowledge management’s effectiveness

Generally, business environment consists of some factors that influence corporation performance but managers are not able to change them easily. If an entrepreneur has sufficient and appropriate knowledge of the environment, he is able to set up and manage a business effectively. He will avoid some risks and so his rate of success will increase. Environment suitable to entrepreneurial activity has its potential impact on steady and long term development in a special region. In this study, firms including oil pipeline and telecommunication, oil product distribution company, national gas company were ranked regarding to sub–scales related to different levels of factors effective on success in small and medium enterprises of petroleum industry by using fuzzy hierarchical analysis (FAHP) and fuzzy TOPSIS. The results obtained from both methods indicate that pipeline and telecommunication company in petroleum industry are more important than national gas company and oil product distribution company in oil industry.
