Journal ArticleDOI
Wound-dressing materials with antibacterial activity from electrospun polyurethane-dextran nanofiber mats containing ciprofloxacin HCl.
Afeesh Rajan Unnithan,Nasser A.M. Barakat,Nasser A.M. Barakat,P.B. Tirupathi Pichiah,Gopalsamy Gnanasekaran,R. Nirmala,Youn-Soo Cha,Che-Hun Jung,Mohamed H. El-Newehy,Mohamed H. El-Newehy,Hak Yong Kim +10 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that the introduced scaffold might be an ideal biomaterial for wound dressing applications and showed good bactericidal activity against both of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electrospun antibacterial polyurethane-cellulose acetate-zein composite mats for wound dressing.
Afeesh Rajan Unnithan,Gopalsamy Gnanasekaran,Yesupatham Sathishkumar,Yang Soo Lee,Cheol Sang Kim +4 more
TL;DR: PU-CA-zein-drug composite nanoscaffold showed enhanced blood clotting ability in comparison with pristine PU nanofibers, and the presence of CA and zein in the nanofiber membrane improved its hydrophilicity, bioactivity and created a moist environment for the wound, which can accelerate wound recovery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mussel-Inspired Electrospun Nanofibers Functionalized with Size-Controlled Silver Nanoparticles for Wound Dressing Application.
Amin GhavamiNejad,Afeesh Rajan Unnithan,Arathyram Ramachandra Kurup Sasikala,Melisa Samarikhalaj,Reju George Thomas,Yong Yeon Jeong,Saeed Nasseri,Priya Murugesan,Dongmei Wu,Chan Hee Park,Cheol Sang Kim +10 more
TL;DR: This study reports the first versatile synthesis of novel catechol moieties presenting electrospun nanofibers functionalized with AgNPs through catechols redox chemistry, and suggests that these silver-releasing nanofIBers have great potential for use in wound healing applications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of CdO-doping on the photoluminescence properties of ZnO nanofibers: Effective visible light photocatalyst for waste water treatment
Ayman Yousef,Nasser A.M. Barakat,Nasser A.M. Barakat,Touseef Amna,Afeesh Rajan Unnithan,Salem S. Al-Deyab,Hak Yong Kim +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of CdO-doping on the photoluminescence properties of ZnO nanofibers was carried out, and the results indicated that increasing the cdO content causes to increase the solid solubility.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electrospun bioactive poly (ɛ-caprolactone)–cellulose acetate–dextran antibacterial composite mats for wound dressing applications
Nina Liao,Afeesh Rajan Unnithan,Mahesh Kumar Joshi,Arjun Prasad Tiwari,Seong-Tshool Hong,Chan Hee Park,Cheol Sang Kim +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an electrospun nanofibrous mat for wound dressing application was successfully prepared from poly(∆-caprolactone) (PCL), cellulose acetate (CA) and dextran blend solution.
