The double-edged role of FASII regulator FabT in Streptococcus pyogenes infection

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors identify conditions and biotopes in which fabT behavior is defective, such as human tissues, cells, or cell filtrates, and identify the defect that causes attenuated fabT infection.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Novel CovS Variant Harbored by a Colonization Strain Reduces Streptococcus pyogenes Virulence

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors determined the genomic sequences of 10 isolates from five pairs each composed of an invasive strain and a carriage strain originating from five infectious clusters, and found that one pair displayed a single nucleotide difference in covS, encoding the sensor histidine kinase of the two-component CovRS system that controls the expression of 15% of the genome.

Oxidative Stress is Intrinsic to Staphylococcal Adaptation to Fatty Acid Synthesis Antibiotics

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors assessed how extreme changes in membrane phospholipids provoked by FASII-antibiotics affect global Staphylococcus aureus physiology.

Acyl-AcpB, a FabT co-repressor in Streptococcus pyogenes

TL;DR: In this article , the role of AcpB as FabT corepressor is investigated and it is shown that acpB deletion impacts the membrane FA composition and adhesion to eucaryotic cells.
