The Origins of Intelligence in Children

The development of information technology rapidly has an impact on the changing paradigm of education. On the other hand, education holds an important responsibility to create students who have a good and strong character. This research aims to: 1) describe the concept and framework of interactive multimedia courseware; 2) test the feasibility of interactive multimedia courseware by experts and practitioners; 3) test student responses to the use of interactive multimedia courseware. This research and development involved experts, teachers, and students. The data were collected using expert validation sheets, teacher questionnaires, and student questionnaires. They were then analyzed using the descriptive statistics analysis based on mean and percentage. This research yielded interactive multimedia courseware called IMONEC (Interactive Multimedia courseware integrated with Bandura’s Observational learning model and National historical Event to strengthen students' Character) that integrates three important components: the principles of interactive multimedia learning; Bandura's observational learning model; and the noble values and messages of national historical events to strengthen students' characters. The framework of the interactive multimedia courseware consists of the title, user instruction, home, core competency and basic competency, concept map of material, learning material, and quizzes. The results of the expert validation, teacher questionnaire, and student questionnaire showed that the interactive multimedia courseware is feasible for use in learning and effective in strengthening students’ characters.

Development of Interactive Multimedia Learning Courseware to Strengthen Students' Character.

This research aims to facilitate and assist student learning in finding, gathering and analyzing what is needed to develop spiritual potential, self-control, personality, intelligence, noble character, by using seamless mobile media to get the required help in his life. Integration with guided inquiry learning the values of Islam and science in the phenomenon of natural at millennial students utilize information technology of learning resources available environment. The concurrent triangulation strategy is done by collecting quantitative and qualitative data concurrently, then comparing the two databases related to the presence or absence of convergence, differences, or combination. Based on this multivariate statistic analysis, there are differences in learning outcomes between millennial students who use seamless mobile media and non-seamless mobile media. Efforts to integrate Islamic values and science are realized learning outcomes that are; 1) wisdom of greatness, 2) usefulness in life, 3) artificial projects, 4) written reports, 5) responsibilities, 6) accuracy, 7) curiosity. The results of learning patterns that integrate Islamic values and science using seamless mobile media increase studentsâ€™ skills, abilities, and knowledge. The millennial students can complete artificial projects and report very well their meaningful learning activities to have gratitude to all who made Godâ€™s creation on Earth. Efforts to integrate Islamic values and science essential to develop knowledge and ethical character. In Islam, every human being born in a sacred environment, and education becomes a deciding factor in the quality of a childâ€™s religion by providing learning of meaning to improve the quality of millennial students.

Integrating Islamic Values and Science for Millennial Studentsâ€™ Learning on Using Seamless Mobile Media

This paper is an example of how to use new technologies to produce didactic innovative resources that ease the teaching and learning process of mathematics. This paper is focused on augmented reality technology with the aim of achieving the creation of didactic resources related to the polyhedra taught in a course of compulsory secondary education in Spain. First, we introduce the basis of this technology and present the theoretical framework in which we make an exhaustive analysis that justifies its usage with educative purposes. Secondly, we explain how to build the polyhedra in augmented reality using the Unity game engine and the Vuforia software development kit (SDK), which enables the use of augmented reality. Using both tools, we create an augmented reality application and some augmented reality notes with the purpose of helping in the process of visualization and comprehension of the three-dimensional geometry related to polyhedra. Finally, we design an innovative, didactic proposal for teaching the polyhedra in the third course of compulsory Secondary Education in Spain, using the resources created with the augmented reality technology.

Augmented Reality as a Didactic Resource for Teaching Mathematics

This study aimed to describe the development of augmented reality-based interactive multimedia to improve the critical thinking skills of elementary school teacher education students in learning earth structure and fisheries material science. This type of research was research and development by Sukmadinata consisting of preliminary studies, model development, and model testing. The research subjects were elementary school teacher education students at Sebelas Maret University, Indonesia. The technique of collecting data used tests, questionnaires, and observations. The collected data was then analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Qualitative data analysis used the interactive models of Miles and Huberman and quantitative data analysis using a paired sample t-test. The results of the study show that the development of media products determines indicators of learning, programming, display, and curriculum. The main field test obtained ρvalue = 0.002< 0.05, it can be decided that H0 rejected. Students think critically using augmented reality-based interactive multimedia better than before using it. At present, it is obtained interactive multimedia based on augmented reality that is feasible to use in accordance with the views of experts and users.

Development of Augmented Reality-Based Interactive Multimedia to Improve Critical Thinking Skills in Science Learning.

Elementary school studentsâ€™ rational skill is terminated on concrete situations; therefore, enhancing abstract reasoning becomes a prompt for students to be more critical in solving science problems. The objective of the study was to improve abstract reasoning in science learning using interactive multimedia based on augmented reality (AR) for fifth-grade students. This study used a Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles consisting of Plan, Act & Observe, and Reflect stage each. Data collection techniques used tests and observations involving 28 students. The credibility of the research data was examined based on technical triangulation and source triangulation while the collected data were analyzed descriptively. The results of the study on process aspect showed that the use of interactive multimedia based on augmented reality gave positive changes to the learning processes on earth and rock structure topic in the fifth grade of elementary school. The studentsâ€™ enthusiasm during the learning processes thus strengthened student-teacher interaction as they enjoyed the learning processes actively, independently, and collaboratively. The interactive multimedia based on augmented reality facilitates the students to reason by exploring more realistic visual objects to eases student understanding of science concept, associating inter-concepts and implementation of information analysis, and problem-solving. The success of the product showed that studentsâ€™ abstract reasoning in science learning enhanced by 24.20% (in the first cycle) and 23.08% (in the second cycle). The results of this study concluded that the use of interactive multimedia based on augmented reality could enhance abstract reasoning skill of the fifth-grade elementary school students.

Enhancing Elementary School Studentsâ€™ Abstract Reasoning in Science Learning through Augmented Reality-Based Interactive Multimedia

This research aims to develop Indonesian Language textbooks with multiculturalism and character education for traditional poetry writing learning. This research uses a research and development approach until the discovery of a proper textbook. The subjects involved in this study were 101 elementary school fourth-graders, 33 teachers, and 2 Indonesian language and literature learning experts. Data analysis techniques at the need analysis stage through interactive models, and data analysis at the product testing stage using quantitative techniques with non-independent t-test statistics. Preliminary studies found that teachers and students needed creative writing skills textbooks developed by integrating the values of multiculturalism and character education. Textbook development referred to aspects of content, language, presentation, and graphics. Limited textbook product testing using t-test showed that t-obtained= -4,265 and t-table on α = 5 % is 2,064, so H0 is rejected. Broad testing also resulted in t-obtained= -6,426 and t-table = 2,004, so it can be decided that H0 is rejected. Students' traditional poetry writing skills after learning using textbooks are better than before learning using textbooks. Thus it is concluded that the textbooks developed are inferred worthy of use by teachers and students to improve their writing skills in elementary school.

Development of Two-Tier Multiple Choice Test to Assess Indonesian Elementary Students' Higher-Order Thinking Skills.

Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan dan pen­dampingan penyusunan instrumen penilaian menulis kreatif berbasis sistem pem­­belajaran daring bagi guru-guru SD di Kota Surakarta. Peserta pe­ngabdian ini adalah guru-guru SD di Kecamatan Laweyan Kota Surakarta. Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan secara offline dan online. Kegiatan pe­ngab­dian dimulai dengan tahap perencanaan, mencakup persiapan materi dan perlengkapan media online untuk kegiatan pelatihan. Tahapan pelaksana­an pelatihan dilakukan dengan menyajikan materi tentang keterampilan menulis dan penyusunan instrumen penilaian menulis kreatif di SD, dan aplikasinya dengan menggunakan sistem pembelajaran daring. Setelah itu dilakukan tahap evaluasi untuk mengetahui capaian peserta pelatihan dalam menguasai materi dan terampil dalam menerapkan instrumen penilaian menulis kreatif. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan para guru mampu menganalisis kompetensi pembelajaran menulis di SD (82,50%); mampu menjabarkan aspek-aspek penilaian menulis kreatif (80,25%); mampu menyusun kisi-kisi penilaian menulis kreatif (78,60%); mampu menyusun instrumen penilaian keterampilan menulis (78,15%); mampu menyusun deskriptor penilaian (82,15%); dan terampil dalam implementasi instrumen menulis melalui google form (85%). Pelatihan yang diberikan dapat meningkatkan keterampilan para guru dalam menyusun instrumen penilaian menulis kreatif di sekolah dasar.
