Journal ArticleDOI
Excellent long-term outcome of ABO-incompatible living donor kidney transplantation in Japan.
Kota Takahashi,Kazuhide Saito,Shiro Takahara,Akihiko Okuyama,Kazunari Tanabe,Hiroshi Toma,Kazuharu Uchida,Akira Hasegawa,Norio Yoshimura,Yoriaki Kamiryo +9 more
TL;DR: Long‐term outcome in recipients of ABO‐incompatible living kidneys is excellent, and graft survival rates were significantly higher in patients 29 years or younger than in patients 30 years or older and in patients who received anticoagulation therapy than in those who did not receive such therapy.
Journal Article
Marked Prevention of Tumor Growth and Metastasis by a Novel Immunosuppressive Agent, FTY720, in Mouse Breast Cancer Models
Haruhito Azuma,Shiro Takahara,Naotsugu Ichimaru,Jing Ding Wang,Yuko Itoh,Yoshinori Otsuki,Junji Morimoto,Ryosuke Fukui,Masaaki Hoshiga,Tadashi Ishihara,Norio Nonomura,Seiichi Suzuki,Akihiko Okuyama,Yoji Katsuoka +13 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that FTY720 is a potent anticancer agent that induces cancer cell apoptosis and is markedly effective for prevention of metastasis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Novel 5α‐steroid reductase (SRD5A3, type‐3) is overexpressed in hormone‐refractory prostate cancer
Motohide Uemura,Kenji Tamura,Suyoun Chung,Seijiro Honma,Akihiko Okuyama,Yusuke Nakamura,Hidewaki Nakagawa +6 more
TL;DR: Findings indicate that a novel type 3 5α‐steroid reductase, SRD5A3, is associated with DHT production and maintenance of androgen–androgen receptor‐pathway activation in HRPC cells, and that this enzymatic activity should be a promising molecular target for prostate cancer therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Retrospective study on the impact of hepatitis C virus infection on kidney transplant patients over 20 years.
Hanafusa T,Yasuji Ichikawa,Hidefumi Kishikawa,Masahiro Kyo,Takanobu Fukunishi,Yukito Kokado,Akihiko Okuyama,Yoshitake Shinji,Shunsuke Nagano +8 more
TL;DR: HCV infection has a significant impact on kidney transplant recipients over the long term and in particular affects them in the second decade, and a pilot study revealed only partial efficacy of IFN-alpha therapy for HCV-infected recipients, but with the high risk of acute rejection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cytochrome P450 1B1 is overexpressed and regulated by hypomethylation in prostate cancer.
Takashi Tokizane,Hiroaki Shiina,Mikio Igawa,Hideki Enokida,Shinji Urakami,Toshifumi Kawakami,Tatsuya Ogishima,Steven T. Okino,Long-Cheng Li,Yuichiro Tanaka,Norio Nonomura,Akihiko Okuyama,Rajvir Dahiya +12 more
TL;DR: This is the first report about CYP1B1 regulation in human clinical prostate samples showing that hypomethylation of the CYP 1B1 gene may play an important role in prostate cancer.
