Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of adrenal steroids on peripheral fat mobilization in the rat.

TL;DR: The fasting adrenalectomized rat moved more fat out of the epididymal fat depot during a 12-hour fast than did the normal animal and an increase in steroid titer appears to alter fat mobilization in this direction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of autonomic blocking agents on depot fat mobilization in normal and adrenalectomized animals.

TL;DR: Ergotamine tartrate significantly inhibited movement of fat out of the epididymal fat body in adrenalectomized animals during a 12 hour fast and it is suggested that the adrenal steroids and the epinephrines may act together to regulate fat cell metabolism.
Journal ArticleDOI

Depot fat mobilization in spinal cord sectioned and restrained rats.

TL;DR: Both sham operation and cord section increased movement of fat from epididymal depots and inhibited fat mobilization in males subjected to spinal cord section and restraint during 24-hour fast.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of adrenalectomy and adreno-demedullation on experimental edema as measured under repeated ether anesthetizations.

TL;DR: It is suggested that the adrenal medulla is implicated in the control of experimental inflammatory edema in rats subjected to varying numbers of hind limb volume measurements during a 6-hour period.
Journal ArticleDOI

An anti-anti-inflammation concept.

Dorsey E. Holtkamp, +1 more
- 05 Jun 1965 -
TL;DR: A diametrically different perspective of the induction of the inflammatory process has been ascribed to the local release of cellular agents such as histamine, serotonin, or other excitants, and the hypothesis that the body is in a balanced state between inflammation and anti-inflammation is presented.
