Journal ArticleDOI

Assessment of RANS and DES methods for realistic automotive models

TL;DR: It has been shown that the use of a hybrid RANS-LES model offers an advantage over RANS models in terms of the force coefficients, and general flow field for both the Ahmed car body and the DrivAer model.
Journal ArticleDOI

Flow dynamics past a 30P30N three-element airfoil using improved delayed detached-eddy simulation

TL;DR: In this paper, a set of simulations has been conducted on the 30P30N high-lift three-element airfoil using a hybrid Reynolds-averaged Navier?Stokes-large-eddy simulation (RANS?LES) method on multiblock structured and Cartesian-prismatic unstructured grids.
Journal ArticleDOI

A comparison and assessment of approaches for modelling flow over in-line tube banks

TL;DR: In this article, the suitability and accuracy of wall-resolved large-eddy simulation (LES) and Unsteady Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (URANS) approaches are examined for generic, square, in-line tube banks, where experimental data are limited but available.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Jet Noise Prediction using a Permeable FW-H Solver

TL;DR: In this paper, the near-field of a jet-nozzle configuration of Mach 0.75 was simulated using Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and the results showed that the predicted sound pressure levels were within a 1-2 dB deviation for all measured observer locations.
