Identification of the Uric Acid Thresholds Predicting an Increased Total and Cardiovascular Mortality Over 20 Years
Agostino Virdis,Stefano Masi,Edoardo Casiglia,Valérie Tikhonoff,Arrigo F G Cicero,Andrea Ungar,Giulia Rivasi,Massimo Salvetti,Carlo M. Barbagallo,Michele Bombelli,Raffaella Dell'Oro,Berardino Bruno,Luciano Lippa,Lanfranco D'Elia,Paolo Verdecchia,Francesca Mallamaci,Massimo Cirillo,Marcello Rattazzi,Pietro Cirillo,Loreto Gesualdo,Alberto Mazza,Cristina Giannattasio,Alessandro Maloberti,Massimo Volpe,Giuliano Tocci,Georgios Georgiopoulos,Guido Iaccarino,Pietro Nazzaro,Gianfranco Parati,Paolo Palatini,Ferruccio Galletti,Claudio Ferri,Giovambattista Desideri,Francesca Viazzi,Roberto Pontremoli,Maria Lorenza Muiesan,Guido Grassi,Claudio Borghi +37 more
TL;DR: Serum uric acid levels increasing the risk of total mortality and CVM are significantly lower than those used for the definition of hyperuricemia in clinical practice, providing evidence of a cardiovascular SUA threshold that might contribute inclinical practice to improve identification of patients at higher risk of CVM.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hyperuricemia and Risk of Cardiovascular Outcomes: The Experience of the URRAH (Uric Acid Right for Heart Health) Project
Alessandro Maloberti,Cristina Giannattasio,Michele Bombelli,Giovambattista Desideri,Arrigo Fg Cicero,M.L. Muiesan,Enrico Agabiti Rosei,Massimo Salvetti,Andrea Ungar,Giulia Rivasi,Roberto Pontremoli,Francesca Viazzi,Rita Facchetti,Claudio Ferri,B Bernardino,Ferruccio Galletti,Lanfranco D'Elia,Paolo Palatini,Edoardo Casiglia,Valérie Tikhonoff,Carlo M. Barbagallo,P. Verdecchia,Stefano Masi,Francesca Mallamaci,Massimo Cirillo,Marcello Rattazzi,Paolo Pauletto,Pietro Cirillo,Loreto Gesualdo,Alberto Mazza,Massimo Volpe,Giuliano Tocci,Guido Iaccarino,Pietro Nazzaro,Luciano Lippa,Gianfranco Parati,Raffaella Dell'Oro,Fosca Quarti-Trevano,Guido Grassi,Agostino Virdis,Claudio Borghi +40 more
TL;DR: The Uric acid Right for heArt Health project is designed to define the level of uricemia above which the independent risk of CV disease may increase in a significantly manner, and the first results obtained are summarized and the further planned analysis is described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serum uric acid and fatal myocardial infarction: detection of prognostic cut-off values: The URRAH (Uric Acid Right for Heart Health) study
Edoardo Casiglia,Valérie Tikhonoff,Agostino Virdis,Stefano Masi,Carlo M. Barbagallo,Michele Bombelli,Bernardino Bruno,Arrigo F G Cicero,Massimo Cirillo,Pietro Cirillo,Giovambattista Desideri,Lanfranco D'Elia,C. TL;DR: This research presents a novel probabilistic procedure called “spot-spot analysis” that allows for real-time analysis of the response of the immune system to foreign substance abuse.
Journal ArticleDOI
Relationship between 24 hour ambulatory central systolic blood pressure and left ventricular mass – a prospective multicenter study
Thomas Weber,Siegfried Wassertheurer,Arno Schmidt-Trucksäss,Enrique Rodilla,Cornelia Ablasser,Piotr Jankowski,Maria Lorenza Muiesan,Cristina Giannattasio,Claudia Mang,Ian B. Wilkinson,Jörg Kellermair,Bernhard Hametner,Jose Maria Pascual,Robert Zweiker,Danuta Czarnecka,Anna Paini,Massimo Salvetti,Alessandro Maloberti,Carmel M. McEniery +18 more
TL;DR: Central ambulatory systolic pressure, measured with an oscillometric cuff, shows a strong trend toward a closer association with left ventricular mass and hypertrophy than brachial office/ambulatory syStolic pressure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vascular Aging and Disease of the Large Vessels: Role of Inflammation.
Alessandro Maloberti,P. Vallerio,N. Triglione,Lucia Occhi,F. Panzeri,Ilaria Bassi,Francesco Pansera,Enrico Piccinelli,A. Peretti,Laura Garatti,Matteo Palazzini,Jinwei Sun,Enzo Grasso,Cristina Giannattasio +13 more
TL;DR: This review will focus on large artery functional properties and particularly on the role of inflammation on the aortic stiffening process to prevent CV events by earlier therapeutic intervention.
