Journal ArticleDOI
Plant phenolic acids affect the virulence of Pectobacterium aroidearum and P. carotovorum ssp. brasiliense via quorum sensing regulation
TL;DR: The results clearly indicate that both phenolic compounds affect the QS machinery of the two Pectobacterium species, consequently altering the expression of bacterial virulence factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Plant phenolic volatiles inhibit quorum sensing in pectobacteria and reduce their virulence by potential binding to ExpI and ExpR proteins.
Janak Raj Joshi,Janak Raj Joshi,Netaly Khazanov,Hanoch Senderowitz,Saul Burdman,Alexander Lipsky,Iris Yedidia +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, volatile EOs, such as carvacrol and eugenol, were shown to specifically interfere with QS, the master regulator of virulence in pectobacteria, resulting in strong inhibition of QS genes, biofilm formation and PCWDEs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of plant antimicrobial phenolic compounds on virulence of the genus Pectobacterium
TL;DR: The reduced disease severity was not only the result of reduced bacterial growth, but also of a direct effect of the compounds on important bacterial virulence determinants, including pectolytic and proteolytic exoenzyme activities, that were reduced by 50-100%.
Journal ArticleDOI
Efficient, long‐lasting resistance against the soft rot bacterium Pectobacterium carotovorum in calla lily provided by the plant activator methyl jasmonate
TL;DR: It is suggested that the defence response of calla lily against P. carotovorum involves the SA-signalled pathway in the short term, but the jasmonate/ethylene-signalling pathway is required for durable protection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Combining flow cytometry and gfp reporter gene for quantitative evaluation of Pectpbacterium carotovorum ssp. carotovorum in Ornithogalum dubium plantlets
TL;DR: The present study was aimed to develop a quantification system for Pcc expressing a gfp reporter gene, using fluorescent activated cell sorter (FACS) in planta.
