Journal ArticleDOI
Wave spectra of two-dimensional dusty plasma solids and liquids.
TL;DR: Brownian dynamics simulations were carried out to study wave spectra of two-dimensional dusty plasma liquids and solids for a wide range of wavelengths, and the existence of a longitudinal dust-thermal mode was confirmed in simulations and a cutoff wave number in the transverse mode was measured.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ion-wake-mediated particle interaction in a magnetized-plasma flow.
TL;DR: The interaction forces between dust grains in a flowing plasma are strongly modified by the formation of ion wakes in the presence of a strong magnetic field parallel to the ion flow, in agreement with theoretical predictions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Melting of dust plasma crystals with defects
TL;DR: It is shown that the presence of point defects and a few dislocations does not change the two-step melting scenario previously found for nondefect bilayer crystals.
Journal ArticleDOI
On the origin of dust vortices in complex plasmas under microgravity conditions
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors modeled the electric field and the ion drag forces and calculated the curl of these forces to reveal their non-conservative character and the possible driving mechanism of the vortices.
Journal ArticleDOI
Digital in-line holography of dusty plasmas
TL;DR: In this paper, a digital in-line holography (DIH) approach for the instantaneous measurement of the three-dimensional positions of micrometer sized particles in a radio frequency gas discharge is presented.
